Lofted delivery of dumb bombs?

Post by jarraya »

Is there a way to get aircraft to loft bombs and avoid having to overfly a target?

Not really. Aircraft could fly low and then pop up at the last minute, bringing the release range to its maximum just before turning away, but this wouldn’t be true lofting so much as just dropping from a higher altitude.

Given how many ballistic style rocket attacks we are seeing both Ukrainian and Russian attack aircraft make, hopefully we will see this eventually. At least from a UI POV, I could see it being a similar function to the nuclear EMP attack- a selector in the weapons allocation menu. It would require separate knowledge of the lofting range though.

Lofting does also something with the accuracy, which has to be taken into account.

Forgot about this one. Pretty sure this was on an early CMANO list too. It would be great to have lofting profiles someday.

A moderate-to high-g pullup and bomb release followed by a 135 degree roll and pull away should be available. Sure, accuracy would suffer, but a bigger bomb helps make up for it. ;)

The 135 degree roll and pull gets the aircraft back on the deck, fast, and keeps from overflying (or entering engagement rings) of the defensive zone.

I'd love to see it included.
