In some situations, I also repair single track lines if they lead to railway stations of level 2 or more, which are very necessary for maximum railway throughput. In other cases, I leave their repair for small railway repair units or deal with them later. It is impossible to ensure a good supply of troops in the south without repairing all single-track lines. But I don't use FBD to repair them until the front stops in the fall. I usually complete a complete overhaul of all railways in the south by May 1942.

Turn 11 FBD on single-track conversion. There is a reason for this and the why is the most important. I am sure some already know the answer.

The road to the Crimea through Odessa and Nikolaev with the help of the Romanian FBD is built without fail. But this is the only partially single-track section for repair. However, usually the Romanian FBD leaves earlier and does not have time to fully build the railway to the Crimea, the maximum to Perekop.

In general, the success of the repair of the railway to the Crimea depends heavily on the success of the German offensive here.

I always doubt as a first objective between Moscow and the Donbass basin, in the Ukraine. The former deals a tremendous blow to the Soviet rail infrastructure (among other things) but the latter opens the gates to the Caucasus and its oil resources (I just read Dennis in a very recent post indicating that he is "working on a slight revision of soviet oil", we will have to wait and see). The problem is that the advance in the South is somewhat more complicated despite its favorable terrain (at least the first weeks). Moscow or the South, the eternal doubt!

FBDs are designed to lay out supply routes for your panzer groups. Therefore, the panzer groups must ensure the clearing and protection of double-track railways along the offensive route for their repair by the FBD. Using FBD to repair single-track railways at the beginning of the game is irrational. There are not so many double-track railways on the map, so it usually makes sense to lay the offensive routes of panzer groups along the double-track railways on which your FBD operate.

Yes, the double-track railways are a priority. It is evident that it is very inefficient to waste time at the beginning on single-track railways.

The route into the Caucasus is pretty easy in my eyes. As for single track as inefficient I again say, "ignore it at your own pearl.

Logically, that assumption is only as a "general rule" and using only pure mathematics, so I understand that there may be many exceptions dictated by necessity or geography. What happens is that the lines that can provide the largest amount of them (obviously the double-track ones) are much more efficient when it comes to receiving supplies, although I understand that there may be occasional exceptions here or there. One does not exclude the other.

The Romanians leave at turn 14. For 3 turns you will reach the entrance to the Crimea - Perekop. It all depends on how quickly you take Odessa. Usually a railway repair delay occurs there.

Agreed. What you do after turn 14 is another discussion. For the few uneducated out there, on turn 14 the Rumanian FBD disbands and is replaced by 4 Rumanian Rail Construction Battalions. What you do with those is...well it's HLYA's story so he can tell it later.

Ok, this is what I do with the Rumanian FBD. I pull the SU's out of the Rum FBD on turn 8 or 9.

In my last two games as the Germans, I pulled all the RAD units from the German FBDs at the start of the game. Basically I liked the result. Automatic repair of single-track railways accelerated sharply due to a decrease in the speed of repair of FBD. It is a pity that they cannot be returned back to the FBI if necessary. Right now I have 20 RAD units on the map, working automatically. But I don’t touch the Romanian FBD, it works slowly anyway.

IF, and I mean IF, there is a big demand I could do a full turn 1 write-up for the community. BUT only IF there is a high demand for it. And I mean a very high demand for it.

I will be doing a write up thread on Supply setting turn 1 and a thread on the Rovno pocket the whole way through. So IF there is a high demand for a full turn 1 write-up for Germany I can do this but I have to see the response from the readers if this is something that they would like. Is it?

That said, I don't really believe that it was the intended purpose to allow an FBD to be emptied of units where the RADs are doing their thing while the shell unit still serves as a super depot. But hey, go for it. Just file this under the "I wouldn't do it, but that's just me" category.

Just had a very busy day at home, plus writing up the "FULL" Rovno opening in the South. Actually should be "GC41 South Opening featuring the Rovno pocket" should be the title I guess. Plus I need to do my turn in the Teams game. I seem to be holding back my team mates I really do sux at this game. I should be able to get the tech ticket over there tomorrow.

I can 100% tell you I will have a FULL write-up for the South featuring the Rovno pocket fully surrounded. I am on line item 56 at the moment & I am only about 1/4th the way through the full write-up. I just saved the turn to the Server but here is the "Sneak Peak" so far in the South.(this is all I have done so far)

I will see how much time it takes to finish just the South. But I am afraid it would take up a great deal of time. Plus the Center and the North are not as difficult as the South. Anyway, here is a snapshot so far. Every line item will have a picture & arrows for easy reference. Not much to look at at the moment since it is just the first part of the South
