Missing crossings in Joe's bridge?

Post by Bertram »

I played Joe's bridge as Germans. To mop up the last attackers I send it both units from the other crossings. The west one worked fine, but with the east one I got a strange result.

I send those units (by commanding their headquarter) with a move waypoint to the south over the water, and then (with two other move waypoints) to the west. After that they had a probe order (actually a form up and a probe order). Now after a bit more then an hour of thinking the commander came up with the following briljant plan: he moved all the way north to the map edge, then moved west to the west road, went south, crossing the west bridge, then went south to the map edge, went east again to the east road, up north again till the crossing, and there he wanted to pick up the route I had planned.

(Halfway the north edge he changed his mind, and decided to go over the centre bridge insted, after that still going totally south, and then circling back. Now this centre bridge was in enemy hands).

So: are the east crossings in existance? These crossings missing is the only thing I can think of that made the units behave like they did.

Bertram,

Yes all three crossings in the east start blown. Page 108 of the manual provides a key of the different symbols used for the different types of crossings. The base level crossing has no line connecting the two banks/sides. It is simply a site where a bridge could be built.

Ah, maybe I should read the manual [:o].

No, actually I did, I must have missed this. Maybe a little interface editing is in order? When right clicking an intact bridge it will give a text "primed"or "unprimed" bridge. When right clicking this icon, it gives a text "crossing". I translated this as a place where you can cross (though not a bridge), while it is in fact a place where you can NOT cross..... A text like "bridge blown" or "possible bridging place" might be easier to get.

Good suggestion Bertram. Currently we use the right click and drag to scroll the map. I'll ask paul if we can perhaps modify the behaviour such that a simple right click can bring up a context message. not sure, but we'll look into it.

Paul,

what do you reckon?
