Save games???

Post by ScottyG »

Just got my computer back from the shop as i was having troubles with it that were beyond me, but they had to do a fresh install of windows so even tho i had a second HD for my games it none the less corrupted my WITPAE. The game gives me an error when i try to start it, so my question is, is there a way that i can save my "save games" files and replace them into a fresh new install so i dont lose my progress???

After you reinstall the game, just drag and drop your save into the save folder. As far as the save goes, just drop it into a clean save folder or a thumb drive....GP

Some of us have the original DVD with the game on it so we don't need to go to Matrix for that. But if you do not have it and your game serial # is registered on the Matrix site, you just need to sign in and go to the download area. Put in your game serial # when asked and download the base game. Then download the last official patch or Beta.

Install the base game first, then run the patch. Find or make the desktop shortcut and set the switches you need to make the game run well.
Don't fiddle with any mods including map mods until you know the game is running well.

BTW, your hard drive may be fixed now but the buggy behaviour you had may indicate the drive is about to crash. When mine did I could not get my game files back. Back up your hard disk ASAP, and every week or two after that.

To add, if you don't remember or have not registered the game on Matrix site, you will find your serial number (if you still have game installed on computer) in game folder from file serialreg.txt
