[LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs Jkap(Allies) --- odd game, not sure either were into it. took awhile to get turns. Allies didn't like early attack on Low Countries. Wasn't serious game. Built some rockets and gambled on Rome defense which got taken out. Russians didnt abstract paratroops into Manchuria in 1942, found empty capital. Tough to get into this one, but i post the loss.

[WIN] ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) vs archmache(Axis) --- French defense was aggressive, popped some units. He folded.

This was actually a great defense by Elvis - I will document for those wondering.

SETTING
Turn 1 operated Panzers next to Belgium. Attacked Belgium on Turn 2. I only took out the army in the Capital but did not kill a second Belgium unit. Panzer occupied the capital but need to have 2 units dead to cap the country. Because of this Belgium did not surrender on Turn 2.

FRENCH BLITZ
Elvis did NOT pull back his BEF, reinforced them, and kept entrenchment. He moved in carriers and took aggressive defensive positions - meaning moved French forward into the forest. Since I only had 2 panzers I could not take on 4-5 French armies (rest of Wehrmacht in Poland). I had to sit the Panzers and not attack. He "scouted" with carriers, lowering my fighters readiness and strength. Players that retreat the BEF after an early blitz into Belgium I found lose as France falls super fast (By Dec or Jan).

FALL OF POLAND
By Turn 3 Wehrmacht capped Poland and moved armies west to France. Elvis made an unfortunate (or clever?) reposition of units on the magenta line and lost entrenchment. German armies and panzers pounced pushing through the Maginot and down south encircling the bottom three hexes of the Maginot.

FRENCH COUNTER ATTACK 1
Repositioning the units south, Germany moved corps up in Belgium but could not even attack French and British Corps were entrenchment 3. Carrier cover would cost about 300 MPP in fighter losses PLUS Germany only had one anti-entrenchment unit (medium bombers). Basically abandoned any hope of punching through that. Moved a corps next to sea - the entire British fleet bombarded (lower moral), French armies cleaned up the poor germans.

KREIGSMARINE GAMBIT
Entire German fleet moved out to sea lanes to contest the convoys hoping to get Elvis to commit carriers - he didn't and kept carrier cover in French. Great move.

FRENCH COUNTER ATTACK 2
German armies moved south to encircle Paris and take southern France. Superior Allied air (due to operation units and not have spare MPP for the quick blitz) pounded the moving and de-entrenched German troopers. Allied war machine was pumping UK units (anti-tank) into France to "invoke the spirit of 1917." Elvis "unfortunate" opening of the maginot line actually saved him time as German units spent one - two turns and pounding through that instead of getting closer to France. Another good move by him.

Axis resigned. Elvis had great strategic plays (air cover / carrier / all in France defense) and fantastic tactical awareness with French troops. Good game. Will probably want a re-match sometime

@archmache --- The double operand panzers opening, is expensive. But guarantees Belgium goes down instantly. The *key move, when you brought them forward again, without upgrading. Since Luftwaffe pilots evenly matched for RAF. That's when I decided to forgo tech investment and go for an exchange in MMPs on fighter sorties from the Flattops. Instead of taking a breath to upgrade & wait for Armies, German Generals must been ordered by AH to head South to the weakened ML, unentrenched Northeast forts. You did bust through easily, but that division of Nazi power pieces had the offensive split. Early game momentum allowed nasty defense in the North & coastline as you mentioned. The Winter weather was just what I needed. You're correct, was allowing Kreigsmarine to freely raid, wasn't about to get involved in Atlantic armada. You gambled, I gambled. My French campaign skill is decent. You still had time. Because I have the worst North Africa/Russia skills.

[LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) vs OldAHgamer (Axis) --- Russia got ground to powder. Persia, Moscow, Stalingrad gone Spring 1943. Yanks headed Italy & Southern France in 1942 which is too early, no choice. Left Pacific empty. China sent units to Burma, not good, Japs bashed Chinamen. Didnt scratch the paint off level 3 Panzers.

Good game by ElvisJonesRambo, but i have to admit everything fell the Axis way except diplo - got Turkey to 73% and then he blocked me when the US came in. But otherwise both France and Russia went off on schedule, and ElvisJonesRambo was forced to invade early and by then my Tigers were ready to repulse him.

I am ready for another game if anyone is interested? I can take either side, but feeling like continuing to play the Axis right now.

@oldAHgamer --- I gambled with India and China; and even Africa, by diluting normal defense. Was guessing you would not press China/Burma too much. India sent a pair of Medium bombers to England, very expensive. Never helped the cause. China sent 2-Armies/Tank/HQ to Burma. All they did was get cutoff and weaken Central China. I blew off Africa, went with Carrier tech / British Bombers. I always like to mix it up, guess. Or try something new. Youve taken me down 3 in row. good work last game. will need to play it straight next time. Russians were garbage. got blasted Dneiper, to Kursk, down to Stalingrad. dont think i even damaged a German unit.
