Control Over Air Units

Post by Mehring »

Is there any way to limit the range interceptors will auto-intercept from their airfield? I don't see this option, have I missed somthing? I'm getting quite fed up trying to focus my forces where I need them only to find they intervene in battles litterally hundreds of miles away from their AD's and in Fronts to which they are not assigned.

Is this on your turn or the enemy turn? On your turn you can set air groups to rest if you don’t want them joining a battle. For example, in 41 axis often want fighter cover when attacking (assuming soviets are flying) but not the bombers so you rest them.

Through the opponents turn, you have less discretion to change on a per battle basis but you can still rest through the entire turn

It's really tedious managing rest on my turn, but that's exactly what I do. It's the other player turn that's the problem I've no solution to. It's been years since I played it but didn't WitE1 have the option to set a range limit on fighters?

Even worse is that your fighters will fly to support any units within range, even if fighters have GS AD set to specific front, for example, they will still fly to support some non relevant units for you.
While bombers follows exactly what you set.

Exactly.

What I'd really like to see is interception Air Directive boxes to determine whether and where a unit will auto-intercept. If these and boxes for other AD's were custom shapeable it would be a great improvement.
