I have to say I was going to buy the game expecting it to be around £30. At over £50 I have decided it is too much for me.
As I get older I just don't sit at the PC for long enough to justify spending so much on a game. It looks fantastic and I'm sure it will be very good value for people who can spend a lot of time playing the game. I've downloaded the manual and will read through it. I may eventually not be able to resist.

Good luck with the release.

Are you getting an error of any kind? You can also go to your My Page and try re-downloading from there.

No error, just the download slows down to 0 B/s. But it went trough on the 4th try.

I'm very surprised and disappointed at the $60 price.
I was expecting $40 at the most.

I'm guessing the surprise is based on the pricing of past Flashpoint titles from many years ago. Southern Storm is a much bigger undertaking than those were, it's more of a monster game endeavour in its own right. Time has also passed and prices have gradually increased. A game that takes much more effort and time to develop with a larger team will cost more than a game that took less time and effort with 1 or 2 people 15 years ago. Southern Storm and Flashpoint in general is now much more similar in effort to a game like War in the East 2 than to the older Flashpoint titles.

Well, this is a bit unfortunate.

I'd been looking forward to this one for years, and supporting the devs whom I've had nothing but positive interactions with. But I'm afraid that for me the price point is a swing and a miss.

I get that the game took a lot of people a lot of time and hard work to make, and that's fine.. but there's a point where too much is too much. I also get that there's a certain crowd that would've bought the game at any price, even $200+.. and that's fine, that's their choice. But for me, I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass on this one for now.

Back to Red Storm it is! Good luck with the launch.

I was happy I had a 50% coupon, even though I do think at full price the game is still worth it; at thirty bucks it's a steal. More importantly, I have to hand it to the dev team; this is a very impressive piece of work. The overlays, the SOPs, the maps and info displays--all really well done. And I love, love, LOVE that they are relocatable honest to goodness windows; I dragged over one of my surplus monitors as a second display and yep, that's a keeper.

Of course, I will still suck at the game and get my butt handed to me by the AI most of the time, but at least I will know a lot more about how my demise came about!

I agree with the other posters that $59.99 is a shocker! However, I think marketing is the issue here, by Erik just saying that this game is on the scope of War In the East which I paid full price, improves my expectations of the game, thus reducing the shock and making it easier to purchase.

We plan to be on Steam in 6 months or so once we iron out any launch issues (thankfully, a small number). All things going well.

I have no issue paying $59.99 for this game. It is a great game and worth the price.

Computer wargames have been hovering around the $40 price point for many years, and with inflation, I can accept $60 for a good game. These guys deserve it, support them.

Bruce, enjoy the game. If you are new to the game, I would also skim the Ops Guide and open and follow the Tutorial guide.
