Mouse-wheel problems

My mouse-wheel for zooming in/out on the map become sluggish/lagging. It works at first, but after a while it stops responding and I need to scroll the wheel several times to make it work.

I do not see any other posts on this, so I seem to be quite alone on this.

Any tips to try?

sometimes even from alt tab from the game to another program

so i just have to save and load
