HLYA GC Step-by-Step German turn 1 featuring the Full Rovno pocket

Re: HLYA GC Step-by-Step German turn 1 featuring the Full Rovno pocket
Unfortunately the system doesnt count these actions as 'Combat' but treats them like HQ displacement. As such there is no on map combat icon nor are they listed in the CR on the Battle tab.
The Destroyed Fort is listed on the Destroyed Units tab.
And you have to track the effect of destroying each fort on the Ground Losses tab.

Hyla - @ Number 1 - you have examples of dragging more supply out? If that is the case just build a bazillion depots all over the map. Would this not drag the most out? I believe, and not certain there is a certain amount released during a turn. If having more depots demanding then your statement would be true, is it? I have heard a few say this and the readers and I would love further information on this. Thank you as always.
My pleasure. Now remember this started with me asking why do you not create depots on T1. So we are really talking about T1/T2 in this instance. Now I get all thumb tied when inserting screen shots so lets get this out of the way first. The first screen shows minimal change/creation to depots

Now most of the extra freight from Berlin, Prague and Vienna went East. The extra out of Frankfurt stayed local.
Now firstly why not create a Bazillion depots? Well, for a start the manual somewhere says there is a finite limit and they do come at an Admin cost (but what else will you use Admin points for?)
Now this is where I start possibly talking through my hat.
Somewhere in the system is a Freight bottleneck and it is rail line usage, railyards, depots and demand????? It doesnt seem to be the physical production of Freight.
Rail Lines - most are yellow with some green and some orange.
Demand - on T1 many Axis units have supplies at 200% so perhaps Demand is low so artificially up it by creating more Depots.
Depots - make sure they draw freight East and not send it back to the West.
Railyards are an obvious choke point especially as they can be bombed so I think it is wise to have as much freight sitting outside of the NSS as possible.
I think.

At the start of T2 they appear like this.
They can be mopped up by a Div or regiment for zero Axis losses and Soviet losses of 2980 men and 29 guns
Thank you (and Jango) for showing this and people that read this can start incorporating this into their strategy. I will point out that you may want to consider eliminating some of the FZ's in certain areas for rail repair as shown here with green arrow;
I know that is obvious but still had to say it. Also consider some of the forts for attack to bring down more Soviet planes if you are using your German fighters to bring down as many planes as possible as was done here https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 5#p5052195
Again, thank you two for pointing this out and here is a quick walk through of some, not all of the FZ(forts) I did in a test bed.. (Most of Center and none of the South were "not" tested)

Re: HLYA GC Step-by-Step German turn 1 featuring the Full Rovno pocket
Testing this out we check the Loss Screen and we see the current losses in the game. We will note the Guns and the Men losses with the green arrow.
Also note the end of Soviet turn there were 939 men and 8 guns to give us a guess of how many men were there.
We then will move the German Division next to the fort per the green arrow on the depleted FZ
Finally we check the loss screen and see that the losses have actually increased by 8 guns and 874 men. If the Soviet FZ still had the 939 men then the Germans captured most of them with no loss as you and Jango said. Awesome job and thank you again for sharing! I agree it is painful to see and should have a map icon showing the surrender for a bit better knowledge this is happening.

Re: HLYA GC Step-by-Step German turn 1 featuring the Full Rovno pocket
So I finished out this test bed of just these FZs and moved next to all the rest of the Soviet FZ's. All that were depleted auto-surrendered.
Finally tally was impressive for no loss to the Germans. Again great info brought out by 56ajax and Jango. Thank you so much for your contribution to the thread!!!!!!!
Quick comparison to opening loss screen before the move. (I only did the FZs(forts) shown in the picture in this post as a test bed. Most of Center and none of the South FZ's were done)

Changes you are referring to are "building" new depots? Correct? I am pretty sure this is what you mean but want to make sure.56ajax wrote: Thu Nov 24, 2022 2:54 am And the second shot shows NSS after I have made changes to Depots

Changes to exisitng depots at Konigsberg to 4, Allenstein to 2 and those depots along the Hungarian Soviet border to 4.
I will detail new depots shortly.

Now for Frankfurt I created 3 depots, 20k each, which recieved the full amount from Frankfurt. Not sure how this helps but that is 60k sitting on the rail network. I will try and crab crawl East. Schweinfurt here I come.

Berlin, I created a new depot at NE Berlin which received 33% and Frankfurt an der Oder which received 100%. Probably create one at Pozan as well. At the end of the day not sure how much difference it makes.
