Allied Impulse #7

Weather roll is a 1 meaning Arctic Snow, Med Rain and all else Storm.

France, CW and USA take Naval Actions. China and USSR take Land.

The Commonwealth and USA move units into convoy protection. Notably, the USA moves some fast CAs into the Stormy Solomon's area.

CW activates the Italian Coast with a SUB and find with a NAV in the 4 box. The CP is destroyed. In the 2nd round, no CW SUBs are added, but the Nav finds again with 6 surprise. 1 escort is damaged and aborted. In the 3rd round, the Italians gain surprise and spend 4 to Avoid Combat.

In the Solomon's, the Japanese gain 5 surprise points and spend 2 to increase and 2 to decrease attack. 2 CAs are aborted and 1 damaged. USA suffers 1 X, 1 D and 1 A result on its CAs. In the second round, the US has 3 surprise points. They are used to select a target. 1 CV is damaged and the other aborted. 2 USA CAs are aborted. The Japanese maintain control of the sea area and all US ships have vacated one way or another.

No other combats are successfully initiated in the naval activation phase.

No rail moves are done. USSR moves units to cover problem areas and in China, the Communists try to deal with suddenly out of supply units that are also disorganized around Tanyuan.

No attacks are declared and a number of rebases occur. No HQ reorgs are done.

A 10 is rolled when >2 is required, so the turn continues.

Axis Impulse #9

All Axis powers take combineds.

Japan picks up some Divisions with destroyers. Germany moves SUBs into the Faroes Gap. Italy moves a CP into the Italian Coast area. No Naval searches are successful.

There are no Strat Missions nor GSs.

There is no rail movement. Land moves for Japan set up for an attack on Taiyuan. Germany works its winterized units into position for an attack. Italy stays positioned.

The attack on Taiyuan is +21 because the MTN unit there is out of Supply. A roll of 2 still takes the hex. Germany's attack on a frozen swamp in the north is +7 with winterized units and gains the hex shattering the defenders for 1/2 disorganized and loss of a Mech Div.

The turn ends on a 3<4.

July/Aug 1942

Allies win initiative after a reroll.

Allied Impulse #1

Weather is fine everywhere but N. Monsoon.

CW, USA and France take Naval Actions while USSR and China take Lands.

All three move various naval units around to cover or complete convoy lines and to confront some Axis units in sea zones. A USA activation in the Solomon's ends up leading to a Japanese surprise w/ 4 points... which are used to avoid combat. No other searches, Allied or Axis, have a result.

The CW STRAT bombs Lille. It is intercepted by a 7 Factor FTR, which in turn, is intercepted by 4 FTRs. 1 Bomber is aborted as is the German FTR. 1 BP is destroyed. There are no GS.

No rail moves are done. Moves are made to solidify the front lines in Western Russia and to protect gains in China by the Communists. The Nationalist hold the line.

There are a few rebases of no consequence.

Axis Impulse #2

Italy and Japan take combined impulses while Germany takes a land.

A German GTR and Italian NAV enter the 2 box in the East Med. A Japanese FTR enters the 4 box in the Solomon's.

Italian fleet with loaded TRS enters the 2 box of the East Med. A small Japanese fleet carrying a division and escorting 1 CV enters the Solomon's 4 Box.

The Japanese search and find the American CAs in the Solomon's. 2 of 3 surprise eliminates any possible AAA fire. 1 USA CA is damaged and 1 aborted and the Sea Zone is under Japanese control. CW activates in E. Med, brining in a FTR in each of the 0 and 1 boxes. The Italians gain significant surprise and use it to avoid the combat.

A Japanese STRAT bombing of Lanchow yields no success. German's and Italians do GS against a forest Hex NW of Gomel and against an ARM stack 2 hexes SW of Kharkov. The hex in the SW has a Russian intercept FTR which is countered a German FTR. An Italian LND is aborted but the Russian FTR is destroyed. In the north, 1 of 2 units is disorganized while all 3 defenders in the south are flipped.

Moves are made to be able to choose blitz and to prepare for next Axis impulse. Japan invades Tarawa.

Attacks are announced a couple of hexes SW of Kharkov and, of course, on Tarawa. Ground support is added for the former and is intercepted and countered. Two Allied LND are cleared as are 2 Axis... and 1 Russian FTR is destroyed with pilot.

Axis lose 2 units, and ENG and an INF, with 1 Russian destroyed and total disorganization. Tarawa falls, of course, with a 21+ roll.

2 German HQ do reorgs in the south.

Allied Impulse #3

Weather is fine everywhere except rain for the N. Monsoon.

USSR, China and the CW do Land Moves while USA and France do combined.

No Naval Air actions occur. For Naval moves, the US once more attempts to sneak a CA into the Solomon's zone. Some extra cruisers are moved from the East Coast to the Pacific.

The Japanese try to search the Solomons. Both sides find with the Japanese getting 2 surprise... adding it to Naval Attack in the ensuing Naval Air combat. The American CA is destroyed and control of the zone maintained.

There is no Strat Bombing nor are any Ground Strikes done.

DeGaulle rails to Pointe Noir. A Mexican MOT rails to Norfolk.

CW moves closer to Tripoli in Libya and toward Syria. Russia looks to solidify its lines.

Air rebases are done. Russia reorganizes a FTR and 3 land units in the south using Zhukov.

Axis Impulse #4

Japan, Italy and Germany all take combineds.

Japan does a port strike of the Fiji Islands gaining 4 surprise, all of which reduce AAA. Americans are exceptionally accurate, stopping 4 of the 6 attacking factors. The Yorkton is damaged and returns to the spiral.

Germany and Italy move 6 SUBs into the North Atlantic. Japan moves a carrier fleet and a Div loaded on a destroyer to the Coral Sea. Axis find in North Atlantic with surprise. They choose a surface and have 3 surprise left to select target. The Bearn saves and is only damaged and an American CL is aborted. 1 German SUB is Damaged and an Italian Aborted. There is no 2nd round in this zone. Axis search in the Faroes, but are surprised by 4. 2 are used by the CW to increase and 2 to decrease attack effects. A 10 is rolled for the SUB and it is simply aborted rather than damaged. Both sides miss searches in the 2nd round.

There is no STRAT Bombing done nor are any GS conducted. Germany moves some units forward and Japan invades Port Moresby at 21+. No other attacks are declared.

Various A/C are rebased toward the fronts. Italy reorganizes a SUB in Bordeaux and Germany, an LND in the north.

Allied Impulse #5

Weather is Fine except for N. Monsoon which has Storm.

USSR/USA take combineds. CW and China take lands. France takes a Naval. USA moves a TRS from Samoa to pick up an Aussie FTR. Russia moves a surface fleet into the Baltic, 3 Box. France picks up a Canadian INF with a TRS from Gibraltar to the W. Med.

The Russians find the CP line with Surprise... the Germans had played bad odds and sent their Condor to the 3 Box. All 10 surprise go to increase damage. The Baltic is cleared with 4 destroyed and 1 aborted CP. The Russian Navy escapes back to Leningrad.

There are no GS nor rail moves. Land moves involve movement forward of the CW in Libya and retrenchment in Russia.
There are no attacks. Rebases are done. Russia reorganizes a FTR in the south and an INF in the north.

Axis Impulse #6

Everyone takes a combined.

Germany replaces its lost CPs in the Baltic. Italy moves a SUB to the North Atlantic. Japan moves some more CAs into the Coral Sea and picks up the MAR div at Port Moresby. Combat is initiated in the North Atlantic. Neither side finds and no other areas are activated.

There is no STRAT Bombing. GS are conducted on 1 hex in the north front in Russia NW of Gomel and SW of Kharkov. Both are intercepted. In the North, all Axis Bombers are cleared while the Russian FTR is aborted. As for GS, the North sees no success while 2 of 3 units are disorganized in the southern ARM stack.

No Rail Movement is done. German Land moves are to set up some attacks. None others are done. Japan invades New Caledonia. Germany declares land attacks NW of Gomel and SW of Kharkov. Ground support is sent by both sides in Russia. The Germans clear through a Stuka in the north while destroying a Russian FTR. 1 German Bomber is destroyed while all Russians are aborted in the South. Another roll of 7 occurs in the battle for Kharkov area... all attackers are disorganized and 1 MOT DiV lost. In the north, likewise, the attacker lose a MOT div and are disorganized, but at least, the Russians also lose an INF. Of course, Noumea also falls to an auto-attack by Japan... naturally rolling a 15 to do so :).
The impulse ends after some rebases.

Allied Impulse #7

Weather is Fine everywhere except in the N. Monsoon w/ Storm.

USA and France take combineds. China, Russia and the CW take lands.

USA establishes some presence in certain sea zones in the Pacific.

There are no STRAT runs nor are there any GS actions.

A Russian factory is railed beyond the URALs from Kalinin in a bit of caution in the North. Moves are used to shore up lines and to examine a possible attack in the south.

After movement, turns out that Russia does not have enough upright ARM to create a Blitz where they would wish. No attacks are announced.

Aircraft are rebased and the Russians reorganize in the South (hoping to get an ARM advantage there). 2 ATRs reorg a FTR. A Russian HQ reorganizes and ART and ARM in the South.

With a roll of 5, the turn does not end.

Axis Impulse #8

All three Axis powers take combined actions.

Italy moves a CP into the West Med, hoping to sneak in an extra BP from that. Germany moves a CA fleet into the Baltic picking up a couple of Divisions stuck in Norway. Japan sends an escort CV mini-fleet to each of China Sea and South China Sea. An attempt is made by Germany to activate in the North Atlantic sea zone. It is successful with surprise. 4 points are used to select the combat type and 3 to select a CV as target. 1 German SUB is destroyed while a German and Italian are both aborted. The CVL Eagle is damaged and 2 CP are destroyed. In a 2nd round, the Italians again find with mild surprise (4 points). They nullify the damage and increase the enemy damage 2 points either way. An American CL is damaged and a French is aborted. In a third round, both sides find... but the CW has 3 surprise points. 2 points are used to mitigate damage against the CW fleet. 1 CW ship is aborted while 1 Italian SUB is damaged. There is no 4th round. Finally, the lone CP in the West Med is found and sunk.

Axis Impulse #8 con't

No STRAT Bombing missions are done.

No rail moves are made. Germany moves some units in the North. Most other moves are nonsubtantial. Japan declares an attack on Hanoi while Germany declares on a hex 2 away from Kalinin to the west. No Ground Support is added by either side in Russia or Vietnam. In Vietnam, the attack is very costly losing the Japanese an INF and a Div, and disorganizing the remaining MAR. The hex is taken, nevertheless. Near Kalinin, a retreat result is gained with 1/2 attackers disorganized.
Rebases are done to settle air into better positions. No reorganizations occur.

Allied Impulse #9

Weather is Rain in the Arctic, Storm in the N. Monsoon and Fine everywhere else. USA, the CW, France take combineds while China and Russia take lands.

CW tries, but fails, to complete convoy lines... 1 factory in Brazil will not be filled. USA twiddles its thumbs. A search in the Italian Coast is missed by both sides. In the East Med, the CW search is successful. 2 of the 3 surprise are used to enhance attack. The Axis NAV gets through and all others on both sides abort the air combat. There is no 2nd round as Italians gain surprise and use it to avoid combat. The Italian search of the North Atlantic ends up with the CW finding with 9 surprise points. 2 mitigate damage against its own ships and 5 increase the damage to the SUB. The fortunate SUB ends up aborting when the first D becomes and abort.

No STRAT bombing is done nor are any GSs attempted. No rail moves are done. The CW creeps ever closer to Tripoli. Russia tries to shore up its defense and looks seriously at an offensive action in the South.

CW declares an attack on the German INF just East of Tripoli. Russia declares on a stack of diorganised Germans just East of Dnepropetrovsk. In Libya, bombardment and CV and FTR add some ground support. Russia does not add any in its attack. There is no defending ground support. Russia takes the hex by Dnepropetrovsk eliminating an INF and shattering an ARM. It advances a sacrificial INF into the hex. In Libya, CW get a retreat, but 1/2 the attackers are disorganized.

Some air is rebased in Libya and air in northern Russia is reorganized and rebased.

OOPs ... forgot to get a screen shot of the attack in Libya.

Axis Impulse #11

Germany Land and Italy/Japan combineds.

Italy attempts to sneak another cp into the West Med. Japan loads 2 divs onto destroyers in the Solomon's. CW seeks out the CP by activating in the West Med. Italy adds a FTR to protect the CP in the 0 Box. With 7 surprise, the CW chooses a surface combat and the CP is sunk. A 2nd round occurs but as it is a Naval Air combat, there is no effect since the Italian FTR has no naval air factors. In the 3rd round, the Italians gain 6 surprise and avoid combat. That is it for naval actions.

A German LND with 5 anti-armour factors ground strikes a hex NE of Smolensk. It is escorted by a strong FTR. The nationalist CAV way up in Northern China gets a little love from a Japanese LND. Neither strike is intercepted. Both units near Smolensk are disorganised while the Chinese Nationalist shruggs off any attempt to flip it.

Moves are made by Germany to do some attacks on the stack near Smolensk and on a Russian INF near Dnepropetrovsk. Italy moves its HQ to supply a German MOT that is moving from Poland.

Germany declares 2 attacks, one near Smolensk and one near Stalino. Russia brings escorted Ground Support to both fights which is, in turn, intercepted by Axis FTRs. In the north, a Finnish FTR is destroyed w/ pilot while in the south, another German FTR is shot down (pilot survives). No losses for Russia and all ground support gets through. In the north, 1/2 attackers are disorganized while the defender is retreated. In the south, 1/2 attackers are disorganized with no losses while the INF is destroyed.

A German HQ reorganizes a unit in the north. No rebases are done (as most air is disorganized anyhow).

The turn ends on a 3<6.
