Questionable Battle result?

Post by clonedino »

This was on turn 1 of the GC 1941 playing as the axis. I sent Totenkopf up towards Riga to take on turn 1. Had to hasty attack with ground support hoping for a retreat. Leading to the combat in the attached image. Odds were 1:1.2. Massive bummer. Oh wait, they retreated anyways. was curious as to why this happened. Any help appreciated

That division usually starts with a lot of damaged elements. During battle more combat elements can get damaged. If enough get damaged, chances are that at the end of combat it will basically count as ready to displace because only the support elements are left, primarily.

Since you are hugging it with Totenkopf... it's going to displace and rout away.

Yes, if a unit gets reduced to depleted status (<10% ready combat elements), the unit will rout when next to an enemy unit and alone in the hex.
