AGEOD. why making worse games when they can make campaigns for their best ones?

Post by Joseignacio »

IMO, AGEOD has a series of excellent games like

- The AJE series
- ACW and ACW2
- BOA and BOA2
- España 1937

and may be some others.

Some of these others follow the same mechanics of the aforementioned but dont work well or they are too simple because the scenario where the action takes place is small, like Thirty Years' War.

But all I see that is they keep on developing other series like Order of Battle, PanzerCorps and Field of Glory. War in the East... instead of simply making new campaigns for those excellent but now abandoned games.

Don't you people think it is a pity, and dont you like those games better?

I too think it is a pity, that so many great titles from the past have been left behind. It is mostly a software issue, isn't it?

I've got almost all the ADEOD games and think they are excellent.

Some of the later ones are just too big though - Pride of Nations - over 1600 turns - and the turns are slow to process; and War of Napoleon - long turn processing.

But the earlier ones are still excellent. The early Napoleon's Campaigns:

It correctly in my view looks at a series of campaigns rather than one long campaign. This is the approach the Encyclopedia Britannica followed too.

The above is a good guide for Campaigns on the Danube game too.

Ageod classical games just outgrew the old AGE engine, esp. in terms of turn resolution time.
Nowadays Pocus is working with a new Slitherix in house engine. The decision which games to make era wise is a business decision. Perhaps popular demand in the forum of a game to be made could tip the decision. This is what Pocus wrote in the Ageod forum.

The AJE series is the best for me. Lots of scenario and there are indeed some missing scenarios to cover all the history of Roman Empire.
Chancellor Gorkon to Captain James T. Kirk:
You don't trust me, do you? I don't blame you. If there is to be a brave new world, our generation is going to have the hardest time living in it.

can't say i agree tbh, change of direction either way is better than no direction or games at all

Field of Glory: Empires
Field of Glory: Kingdoms

and like most have said above, the past games have been epic for me :ugeek:
