[Suggestion] Option to request automated fleet to bombard

Post by rgbunicorn »

I enjoy sitting back and watching my automated fleets gradually take over a weaker neighbor.

The one aspect that consistently request manually intervention and additional micro is the bombardment step.

As far as I can tell, there is no way to get automation controlled fleets to bombard without zooming into the planet, and right clicking, which also sets the fleet to manual control.

It would be nice if there was an option to create a mission to auto-bombard, similar to the way we can request invasions on enemy colonies.

Basically, I can imagine the following options on an enemy colony:

1. Invade (current option)
2. Invade (wait until ground defenses eliminated)
2. Destroy ground army (bombard until ground defenses eliminated)
3. Destroy colony (bombard until colony is destroyed)

This would greatly reduce the micro that is required for taking over enemy colonies.

- Reducing bombardment micro-management [bombard until ground defenses eliminated)] :D
- Reducing invasion micro-management [Invade (wait until ground defenses eliminated)] :D

+1000!
- Imagine how confusing it is to a new player!
