Allies Impulse #1 Con't

The CW conducts a STRAT bombing run on Lille, well escorted. It is intecepted by a low Factor FTR from the Germans. Amazingly, given the air differential, the CW is forced to abort an FTR will applying no damage to the Germans. The Germans abort the 2nd round and all LND clear through. 1 BP is destroyed.

The Russians conduct a 2 LND GS against a German ARM stack SE of Dnepropetrovsk. They are intercepted and they counter. The air battle is more or less even at the outset with 4 FTR for Germany and 5 for Russia with Germans having slightly better quality. Germany loses 1 FTR in the fight, while 1 LND clears to invert an ARM in the GS.

Russians shuffle units on the front line to arrange a blitz near Dnepropetrovsk. An attack is declared near same and Ground Support is sent in with escorts on both sides. Another large air to air combat occurs.

In the combat, Russia takes the hex with 1/2 disorganization and no loses with defenders in full retreat.

Russia reorganizes some units that were disorganized in the Blitz combat.

Axis Impulse #2

Itlay takes a combined. Germany takes a Land. Japan takes a naval.

Japan confronts the American fleet in the Coral and Solomon Seas. An invasion fleet is assembled in the Bay of Bengal. Italy moves SUBs from Bordeaux into the North and Central Atlantic.

In the New Zealand Coast, Japan finds with 11 surprise... 4 are used to choose a surface combat and 2 increase the combat table. 3 will be used to select the TRS for damage. The TRS (w/FTR) is simply aborted while its CL escort is damaged. The 2 SUBs are aborted.

In the Solomons, the Japanese fine with 3 surprise points, not enough to deny a Naval Air combat by the USA. Japan will use those to select a target. A BB is damaged as is a CA for Japan. It aborts the sea area.

Both sides find in the Coral Sea, after Japan brings in an extra FTR. The USA will have 2 surprise for the ensuing combats. It is used to decrease enemy Air-Air. The Allies decide to abort after losing 1 PBY and a CVP to Japan's 1 CVP loss. After AAA, the allies have 1 CV damaged and 1 aborted.

In Cape Verde, Axis find with 2 surprise and use it to decrease enemy attack. The lone SUB is damaged while 1 CP is destroyed. There is no other combat.

The naval phase ends.

Axis Impulse #2 Con't

Japan attempts a STRAT Bombing of Lanchow and removes 1 BP from China. Germany did some GS on Kiev and on Smolensk and against a stack containing an FTR along the Dnieper. None were intercepted. Both units in Smolensk were disorganized and 2 of 3 in Kiev. The FTR as well as an INF were disorganized in the cross river attack.

Germany moves units to look at doing some attacks on some flipped stacks in Russian cities and on a partisan in Norway. An unopposed PARA is conducted against Kiev. 2 attacks are declared in the north and 1 in the south.

There is Ground Support brought in by both sides 3 hexes west of Moscow. Russia has 2 FTRs destroyed while all Germany's LND clear. No Russian LND clear as they abort when their FTR escorts are destroyed.

Smolensk is taken with no losses and defenders destroyed.

3 hexes west of Moscow, the hex is emptied with disorganized attackers and a lost Finnish MOT. The Germans do not advance into the hex as it is likely a death trap for units.

A 2 is rolled on the Norwegian partisan and 1 German MIL is lost.

Kiev does not fall and the Germans lose a MIL and are 1/2 disorganized. On the other hand, the Russians lose 2 units, an AT and an INF.

All German HQs are used in north and south front reorganizations.

Allied Impulse #3

Weather roll is 5 giving Storm in Arctic and N. Temp, Rain in Med and S. Monsoon, and Fine in N. Monsoon and S. Temperate.

USA moves reinforcements into the Solomons 4 box and moves heavy ships into the West Med.

There is no STRAT bombing done. Chinese do an escorted GS against units 2 hexes west of Kweilin which goes unintercepted. The GS fail.

An invasion by the USA/CW is done on the Sardinian resource. The odds on that attack are raised to +21 with shore bombardment.

Russia does reorganizations in both north and south. China reorganizes its ART.

Axis Impulse #5

Japan and Germany take lands. Italy takes a combined.

Japan port attacks Brisbane and gets 6 surprise. All points reduce AAA. A TRS escapes damage to become disorganized while 1 BB is aborted and double-disorganized (it had already aborted to the port earlier).

Germany moves units towards both north and south fronts in Russia. Japan moves units to fill in holes in China and Vietnam. It invades a hex by Rangoon.

Other than the Japanese invasion, the Axis declares no other attacks. The invasion becomes automatic with shore bombardment.

Some rebases are done moving A/C into better positions. No reorganizing is done by HQs.

Allied Impulse #7

A 4 is rolled for weather making Arctic Snow, N. Temp and S. Monsoon Storm, Med and S. Temperate Rain.

The USA and France take Combineds. USSR, China and the CW take Land.

USA moves a 10 range FTR into 3 box in East Med. Subsequently, it moves a couple of loaded AMPHs from Gibraltar to the 3 box as well.

GS are done in abundance on the German unit is Tunis. 2 CW and 3 USA A/C of various types. None are successful bizarrely.

As for movement, the CW and France continue their inexorable move towards Iraq... but await supply to be better if clear weather prevails. As well, there is a general movement towards Tunis. There may be an attack if the odds are strong enough in allied favour. The Russians move around to get a favourable attack on a German hex that is surrounded by Russian on 4 sides and will suffer an armour deficit for combat choice.

For the attack on Tunis, there is a lot of shore bombardment and ground support from both the Allies involved making the odds very favourable for the attackers. Russia decides to bring in a couple of Sturmoviks for the attack in the north near Smolensk. Germany likewise brings in support with escort and Russia counters leading to an air combat. The German bombers largely clear through while the Russians lose a couple of A/C.

Tunis is taken easily without loss. As for the hex near Smolensk, it is taken with no losses but 1/2 disorganized and defender retreated.

Russia uses 2 ATRs and an HQ to reorganize units used in the north.

The turn does not end as a roll of 2 = 2.

Italy passes. Germany takes a combined. Japan takes a land.

Germany moves its TRS into the Baltic and picks up a GAR from Kiel.

Germany conducts a GS against a hex NW of Gomel. 1 Unit is inverted.

Germany moves as many units as possible into position to make an attack near Smolensk with winterized units. Japan moves units in Burma and forward in China.

Germany declares and attack in the North. No ground support is sent by either side. Germany loses the combat with 1 MOT div lost and all disorganized.

The turn does not end 7>4.

Allied Impulse #13

Weather is Fine everywhere except in the Rainy Arctic.

Allies DoW on Iraq.

The USA and France take combineds. The other Allied powers take land actions.

An American TRS in Australia moves to pick up a NZ MOT in Wellington.

No naval combats are successfully initiated.

The CW does an unintercepted bombing run on Hanover. Germany loses 1 BP.

China does a GS with an ART 2 hexes NW of Nanning. It fails to flip either unit in the target hex.

The USA moves towards Vichy holdings in Western Africa. The CW and France stretch supply to attack into Iraq. Meanwhile, Allied forces move into Eastern Algeria from the now controlled Tunisia. In Russia, the army moves to set up a couple of attacks in the north and south fronts. China is a matter of consolidation and a bit of outflanking of the Japanese along the stretched out front.

Land combat is declared by Russia along the coast of the Sea of Azov and 2 hexes west of Kalinin, by the CW and France against Baghdad (with Ground Support), and against Vichy troops in French Sudan (by the USA) . An air combat occurs along the Sea of Azov and a German Stuka is shot down eliminating any Ground Support in the hex.

The USA takes the French Sudanese capital but loses a MOT Div. Iraq falls with no negative effects on the Allies. The attack in the south along Azov loses the Russians a MECH Div with no gains. In the north, a Finnish MECH is destroyed without loss or ill effect.

There are no rebases or reorganizations of note.

The turn does not end on a 9>8.

Axis Impulse #14

Japan takes a Land. Italy and Germany take combineds.

Italy moves an FTR into the 2 box and a NAV into the 3.

Vichy France moves a SUB into the North Sea. Italy moves a Fleet into the 4 box in the Italian Coast.

On a CW activation in the West Med, Italy gains 8 surprise. It allows an Air-Air combat to take place. 6 points increase air combat while 2 are saved for later. After air combat, 1 CW FTR is destroyed and 1 is aborted while an Italian NAV is destroyed. The last 2 points eliminate any AAA. An American TRS is destroyed and a CW CA is damaged. 2 others are aborted. In a 2nd round, only an Italian SUB is successful. It avoids combat and the naval action ends.

There is no STRAT Bombing nor are there any GS.

Japan rails an HQ down near Changsha. Moves are to reestablish supply using the ARM HQ in the north. Germany tries, but fails to cover the hole made in the north from the Finnish MECH loss. Otherwise, it attempts to get a decent attack to the SW of Dnepropetrovsk.

Attacks are declared on the partisan stack near Changsha and on a hex SW of Dnepropetrovsk.

The attack in Russia wins convincingly destroying both defenders with out loss or disorganization. In China, an amazing 2 is rolled, disorganizing the attackers but resulting in no losses on either side .

Turn does not end on a 10>9.

I wonder, why the net drm is only +5, and not +6. IMHO the total drm should be +5.5, rounded up to +6. Is it possible, something with the Armor drm of +0.5 is not correctly processed?

I think the +0.5 drm was handled by the factional roll (maybe) that missed?

No idea... I think the fractional is 0 according to the modifiers listed for the combat. There is a separate part for it. Definitely do not recall what the fractional roll was or even if there was one.

All I know is that there seem to be a lot of 2s rolled the last while.

MWiF is correct.

The fractional odds roll is given on your picture. It was an .883, and missed.

The combat went in at +5.5 (4 + 1 + 0.5). The fractional odds modifier was missed, so that went back down to 5. If you had made the fractional odds, it would have gone up to 6. The final die roll modifier is always an integer, rounded up if the fractional odds roll was made, down if it was not.

Weather is terrible with a 1 being Blizzard in the Arctic and N. Temperate, Snow in the Med and Rain in N. Monsoon while it is Storm in S. Monsoon and S. Temperate.

All the Allies take a land except France which takes a combined.

No strat bombing or GSs are done. Allies move forward on the various fronts, CW and USA towards Algiers, the CW towards Southern Iraq, and Russia in the North setting up a winterized Blitz.

Russia declares an attack in the north west of Moscow 4 hexes. Russia takes the hex, shattering all defenders while losing a MOT.

Nothing else of note happens except an American FTR rebases from England to Sardinia.

Turn ends on a 8<9.
