Point blank fire discipline

Post by adek670 »

I am trying to limit my units only firing out to 1 hex during the "crossing the waldnaab" scenerio. However, they are consistently firing out to 2 or 3 hexes. Can I check to see if anyone else has experienced this please.

1/3 Pzgrenbtl 101 is located in the fortified hex: 1723
My SOPs for the unit is:

tactical initiative: none
Acceptable losses: d0 or die
Stand off range: 0
Fire discipline: Point blank

Is there any way of ensuring they only fire at 1 hex or is this down to an aspect of chance? I have re tired the scenerio several times and still get units attack out to 2 hexes never waiting until next hex.

Please check that the Hold order has the SOP setting of Point Blank (not just the unit's default SOP).

If the Hold order has a Point Blank SOP and the unit is engaging distant threats, please post the scenario save files, so I can check what is going on.

For me, it works in the Lessons of War scenario.

My Marder APCs are set to hide and still fire their Milan missiles. If the infantry disembarks 1 hex earlier, do the APC hide at the disembarkation location or do they follow the infantry to the end point?

The APCs will follow the infantry into the destination hex (which is a 500m long/wide area). You can control whether the APCs stay back (don't get involved in combat) or stay in the front (support the infantry), using the SOP 'Carriers when Empty' setting. For example, your might want to keep your M113's or BTRs back, but in units with Marders, Bradleys or BMPs prefer your carriers to support the infantry.
