How to know units do not return to force pool?

Post by Feinder »

In my current PBEM game, I had that Rhodesian SF unit anchoring my left flank at that Oasis in Egypt. It held for several turns, but my opponent was inconsiderate enough to destroy it. Victoria Crosses all around. However, because the held so well for several turns, it was below supply-5 when destroyed. I was disappointed to NOT find this unit as re-buildable for Rhodesia, even at full price. Is there, or could there be an indicator for which units do not return to the build queues? I'm sure there a plenty of units on both sides, that don't return to the queues when killed. Had i known it would be perma-destroyed, i would have retreated it.

That's not it.
Less than 5, or zero supply, does NOT prohibit a unit from returning to the force pool.
It just means that you have to pay full price to rebuild the unit, presuming that it ~is~ returned to the force pool.

You misunderstand the question.
The SF unit, when destroyed was not returned to the available builds pool, even at full price.
My question is, "Is there a way to know which units, when destroyed, will not be returned to the force pool?"

Oh I see, then it probably has to do with build limits. At the very least you can check those out in the editor.

There are some units in the game that can never be re-built whatever their supply level.

The Rhodesian unit is one. The British & German recon units and the field artillery units are 4 more that spring to mind.

There may be others but those are the most obvious.

Where do you find the build limits? Seems like a bit of work xref if something can't be rebuilt, but if its the only way... also, the Soviet Lt. Tanks can't be rebuilt either.

The easiest way to see the build limits is to open up the campaign in the Editor.

Then go to Campaign -> Edit Country Data -> Edit Unit Build Data

Select the relevant country and you can see its limits!
