Subs heads or tails

Post by ncc1701e »

Not the first one to comment on this.

But sometimes enemy subs are barely sinking MM immediately taking casualties. Sometimes, they sunk 7-10 MM per turn without any losses. This is in 1939 / 1940.

So that cool because it is adding variability and not every game is playing the same.

But that’s not so cool too because the key for the game is how fast the Western Allies can become annoying.

I don’t want the game to be predictable of course.

I am just wondering if there is an explanation for such differences between games.

Thanks

I have always thought the random outcome of every sub attack have been a little bit too random. The range of outcome is very big. But I have now played a few games and I feel the UK can handle the subs pretty well. They are painful but I dont think too much so. But I agree if the Germans are lucky in the beginning it can snowball a bit especially if lots of escorts get sunk. On the other hand I feel there is some pressure on the Germans too. If they do badly in the start I think, as I wrote in some other thread, they have to continue to build subs or possibly lose the game pretty quick. The sooner the UK can start building a large amount lo landing ships the sooner Axis are in trouble so that must not happen before 1942 from a Axis point of view.

I will see if I can lower the convoy attack luck rolls. Naval luck rolls remain. There was a lot of variance in naval combat due to luck.

Not sure this has been raised before, but what about Naval leaders ?

For that matter, what about Air leaders ?

I have some notes on it.

While they sound sexy unless I can accomplish something meaningful with them I won't include it. They can lead to serious exploits with abilities.

In World in Flames they have Leaders in Flames. We played with them once. It was frustrating and micromanaging.
