Haven't designed a new Titan in a while, so here we go:
Titan Name: Hothead Close Combat Light Titan
Chassis: Morola L2 Design: Skorn
----------------------------------------------------------------------

HeatReg.: Delinit H4 [Heat 4]
LifeSup.: Phillippi [Life 2] [Head]
Scanner : CyberSys M [Scan. 2] [LT ]
Computer: DynamCorp. [Comp. 3] [CT ]
Weapons:
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Armor:

[RL ] (15) Millenia (W) 024 [048mm]
[LL ] (15) Millenia (W) 024 [048mm]
Armor Index: 5.67 [Total APts/T]
Internal: 158 [APts]
External: 239 [APts] Max:[051mm]
Total Armor: 397 [APts]
JOCK requirements:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Piloting: Light Titan
Weapons : Energy
Warfare : Scanner
Skills : Medic
Engine really is insufficient, even for the one Tesla. Probably not a problem if the Tesla doesn't charge up fast, one shot coupled with the more or less rapid fire Flamethrowers should take care of most light targets. Plus, Tesla should not be fired when the Titan has to move, or if the to hit % drops much below 60%.
Again, as in its lighter Fireball brother, ammo is a problem, and this Titan should try to concentrate on one or two targets, at best. Though the Tesla does keep up the sting no matter what.
Would like to add JJ, and may do so, sacrificing one FT, will have to battletest.
would also like a better scanner and bc, but that is fairly low priority and not worth the armor tradeoffs.

RE: Hothead
Looks good. Few details.
You can have an additional 1AP in the LOT, you have the spare weight.
You can move the scanner to the head, more protected.
You can swap the engine with the BC, there's room in the CT. This is a designer's call obviously.
You can swap the armor in the CT to V, you gain 2 APs there but lose 0.08C/sec in heat dissipation. And you get an extra 0.5 tons free weight, with which you can increase your BC to 4, or improve armor in the legs to 25 and side torsos and LOT to 28 (or arms to 27 instead of torsos) , or add flares 1 in one of the free slots. To improve the scanner you'll have to downgrade some equipment, or reduce armor though. Or it can simply help in the "quest" for the JPs [;)]
The engine isn't probably too much of a problem, since those FTs will take up most of your heat reduction anyway. So a slow charging TB is not critical. The first shot will be, though.
Oh, and find a decent name for the thing [;)]

RE: Hothead
to get me the jumpports for this design, I downgraded the LS and changed the CT, RT and LT to vicenium, with two points more in the CT as Thorgrim advised and 2 points less in each of the side torsos.
swapped the BC and engine so I could pump a few more APs into the CBT
As a solo titan, I think this design's weakness is the lack of something to poke whatever its tesla bolt hit. In two out of three battle testings with novice jocks, I lost despite having made a good shot with the first tesla bolt. In both cases, I got a yellow scan but couldn't make a called shot with any other weapon.
I think it would make a great squad titan. Especially for ambush purposes.

IMO, The JJ are a good call with this titan since it's going to be in close.

Novice jocks are not the best choice to call shots. Granted you can't call shots with FTs, but 4 of them, fast reload, that increases the odds of hitting the gaping hole created by the TB.

Still runs a bit hot.
And the scanner is still wimpy, but that is fine, it'll have the time as it closes to scan its target.
Has JJ. Has the BC 4 I wanted. Runs a bit hot, and the armor is a little on thin side. However, had to up the engine to deal with the jump port recharging on top of the Tesla.
Combine this with a squad that already includes an Imp and an Apparition, and anything which gets in my face gets dissected and then melted.
Plus a modified mirage providing long range cover fire.
(3 Teslas, 2 Chainsaws, 4 GMH 2s, 3 Flamethrowers. Enough to bowl over almost any light titan in rapid order, I hope)

RE: Hothead
IMO your engine is still too exposed, for a "CC" titan. With one less FT, not sure if the heat it'll create on the target will be enough to compensate its low heat dissipation... the jump ports, they'll give you the defensive bonus, but won't add too much to your closing speed I think. 4 hexes worth of jump, not sure if it's worth it. DfA, sure, but 2.0C/sec eats up most of your dissipation. And your legs are more fragile now. As for the bigger engine, the JPs will take forever to recharge, and they only will if the TB is not recharging.
BTW, you could change chassis to a L1 if you swap the engine with the BC saving another 1 ton [;)] That'll give you some more armor.
(any light titan without friends? [;)] )

RE: Hothead
eh, still haven't gotten around to using this thing. my FT jock kinda leap frogged from a Fireball to a Crucible.
Faced it in battle in Android Rebellion Mission 2. My Imp green scanned it, charged it, knocked it over. Then planted 2 Tesla Bolts CT. It never got a chance to fire. Lucky, wih the engine in back, it didn't blow up. It just kinda lay there while the Imp went and found another target.

Would you mind posting your modified Mirage? I too modified a mirage for long range support and am curious to see what you did with it.

Mind you this is currently modded to fight on a hot world, so the heat reg has been upped, and the bc downgraded.
I have a Light Titan specifically built for long range support, but I salvaged this one from a random fight, and modded it instead. Fairly nasty to light and recon Titans, anything heavier tends to mount heavy enough flares and ECM to give me a hard time.

hmmmmm.. Something odd going on here.....
HR2 with Millenia on the legs should give a heat dissapation of -2.07C/sec shouldn't it? or am I missing something?
Iskandar, can you go check this titan in the factory and confirm it's heat dissapation rate. Could be a bug, and if so will need to be fixed.
BTW. Personally I would trim the armor and stick with the BC6 as long as the rest of the squad will be closer to the enemy then this titan.

definitely a bug here somewhere. when I recheck it its correct, and the print out now is correct. 1.73 is the OLD value. Is now showing up as 2.07 everywhere it should have.

RE: Hothead
Thanks..
I seem to have duplicated it. It doesn't cause any 'real' problems. Appears that when the pinboard printout is generated, it don't print the new heat disappation rate if the disapation rate has changed until after the design is offically saved; seems to only effect the printout, everything else appears to work fine.
Larkin may be able to fix this. ... Larkin?[:)]
