Manpower Demand / Upkeep

Post by scout1 »

Two questions,

- Is Jan 1940 and England has a manpower upkeep of 148 where Russia has an upkeep of 0 .... I have gone to garrison mode for several English ground units, didn't touch Russia .... What's up with this ?

- Is there a report or something that I can track down where the upkeep values are distributed so that I can attempt to do something about them ?

Scratch Manpower and replace it with production upkeep ..... otherwise, question still holds

The upkeeep in production and manpower is what you spend on reinforcements/upgrade.

You probably have allocated 0 production for USSR for reinforcements, so it will not spend anything to reinforce or upgrade units. But you are doing so with the UK (allowing for at least 150 PP) so it will spend on upgrade and reinforcements up to that number.

And when using reinforcements, it also use manpower for land units.

Any means of pre-calculating these values ?

It is complicated as you can not 100% control what will be repaired and upgraded. However, it will also try to spend as close as possible to what you have allocated for repair and upgrades following the priority mentioned on p. 31 (first table).

But let's say that you have only land units with setting allowed for reinforce and that none need (or is allowed) to upgrade. And let's say you allocate 100 PP for that in the production panel.

On p.31 you have the reinforcement costs in PP. And for land units it is 60% of build price. Now a inf corps in 1939 cost 180 PP which comes to 6 PP per step. At 40%, that would mean 2.4 PP per steps to repair (not sure how, or even if, rounding applies; let's say it does not and use the 2.4). So since units can repair max 20% per turn, or 6 steps for a inf. corps, that means a max of 14,4 PP per corps if they each repair their max allowed. Or a total of 41 steps (100 PPs divided by 2.4 PPs).

Since steps of strength also requires 1 manpower (to build or repair), you would also use, in the above example, 41 MP on top of you 100 or so PPs.

Hope it helps,

PS : air units do not require MP for repairs, just to build.

Easy mode.
Set upkeep to 50%.
Prioritize units you want to reinforce first
Don't have a ton of those.
Build units with other half.
