RTW 3

Rule the Waves III is a simulation of naval ship design and construction, fleet management and naval warfare from 1890 to 1970. and will place you in the role of 'Grand Admiral' of a navy from the time when steam and iron dominated warship design up to the missile age.

RTW 3

Post by Alan McDonald »

I bought RTW 2 (and 1) shortly after the announcement of RTW 3 was made on the Matrix page. I have mostly played RTW 2 (when I tried to load 1, it didn't work with 2 already loaded). I like the game, and am a bit surprised at the lack of updates and suggestions (at least on these pages) for the new release. I would like to make some suggestions in light of my limited playing.

1. The ship design function. I think that a deck based design platform for the upper levels would work better than the present system. Perhaps decks 1-10, with one being the lowest and 10 the highest. Ships would have some higher decks blacked out due to their size. You could build multiple structures on each deck, and higher structures would have to sit on lower ones. This would allow conning towers, smoke stacks and superimposed gun turrets to be more accurately simulated. It could also allow a form of top weight meter, as another way of judging the design.

2. Fleet management. Perhaps a separate spread sheet for Reserve and Mothballed ships.

Aircraft. Perhaps a aircraft order/construction sheet, like the ship and sub construction sheets, where you can order your aircraft. (I haven't played around much with the aircraft)

Thank you for your consideration, I hope these suggestions will be considered.

Another suggestion. If you revise a design on the fleet page, and you are still building that class as new ships, you should be able to build the revision, instead of building the ship and then having to rebuild it right away.
