I can play the game v1.11 on my system running Linux, on Steam via Proton, after typing these two lines from a terminal :

Wait until it’s done (quite fast for me, one minute maybe)

Wait until it’s done (quite long for me, maybe 8-10 minutes, with many errors without effect it seems)
Then, no visible issue but maybe a bit of slug-GUI sometimes.
However trying to get into beta 1.12.x i only get a crash when the game starts, after "Finishing Up" before the main screen, then error popup with this :
