Anybody else seeing a performance hit?

Post by Lace »

Since the update it is running very poorly, with lots of lag when scrolling, selecting menus/units. Previously it was fast and smooth. Is anyone else seeing the same?

11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-11980HK @ 2.60GHz 3.30 GHz
Nvidia RTX 3080 Laptop
32 GB RAM
Running from an NVMe SSD
Win 11 21H2

I have disabled Nhamic as per the pop up on the start menu.

Can we see a specific example save?

Also, can you confirm that the game is using the discrete GPU and not the embedded one? (You can check this by enabling "Diagnostics" in the Game Options window and then reading the "GPU: " text in the white-letter caption on the top of the main map).

I have alsmot the exact config on my back PC and only seen slow downs when a lot of missile defense is going on. But this is VERY scenario dependent. If you don't even both with a scenario name, let a lone a save at the point of the slow down, there's not much anyone can do. There is a benchmark scenario in a thread floating around. A lot of people have run it and you can compare yourself to those results to see if its something in your setup.

You should also mention if its the Steam version or the Matrix version.

It is showing the 3080 in the main map caption. The game is so laggy though as to be essentially unplayable. It was perfect with the previous version, even on the most demanding of scenarios. Nothing has changed hardware-wise, only the latest update.

Just to clarify:
1) Is the performance issue on UI only (map zoom/pan etc.), on sim execution only, or on both?
2) Is this happening on a specific scenario or with any scenario?

This is definitely an unusual case, because a ton of optimizations have been added.

Ok, I might have jumped the gun. I loaded a few saved games, all mid-scenario:

Aegean in Flames, 30ms AU 2918
Fast and the Furious 1ms AU 69
Deter, Detect & Defend 3ms AU 487
Queen Elizabeth Showcase 40ms AU 3266

All of which run just fine, however, this scenario, which by chance was the first one I jumped into with the new update, is still running badly:

Thin Red Line 3ms AU 920

Even though the pulse time looks good, this scenario is not running well. I guess I was just unlucky trying this one first, but there is definitely something not right with it. Everything about it is laggy.

Good news that it seems to be localised to something in that one though, and not across the whole update.
