December 25, 1943

Christmas Day. The only actin was bombing of the Japanese in Burma. Three more days for my Infantry division to cross the river and attack.

I had set up an assault on Sorong, but then realized that with the 1027 exe, my CV based aircraft were all very fatigued. I am not entirely sure
it is due to the 1027 exe, but many of my aircraft were in maintenance and some with fatigue over 100. So I stood all of them down and
returned my TFs to a friendly base away from the enemy. I will need to wait a few turns.
I might try downgrading and then upgrading some of the units.

I forgot this earlier:
Morning Air attack on TF, near Misool at 80,108

Weather in hex: Overcast

Raid spotted at 15 NM, estimated altitude 7,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 4 minutes

Allied aircraft
B-25D1 Mitchell x 8

Allied aircraft losses
B-25D1 Mitchell: 6 damaged

Japanese Ships
PB Tenzan Maru, Bomb hits 4, heavy fires, heavy damage
TK Toen Maru, Shell hits 26, Bomb hits 2, heavy fires, heavy damage
TK Ose Maru, Bomb hits 4, and is sunk

Aircraft Attacking:
8 x B-25D1 Mitchell bombing and strafing from low level
Naval Attack: 6 x 500 lb GP Bomb
I think all three ships were sunk

Tried bombing Moulmein airfield, but the flak is too much. I lost 12 medium bombers to flak.

I sent up some LRCAP over Kwangchowan and shot down 9 Helen bombers

I had another radio report of something in the middle of the ocean a while back and sent a sub to investigate
Sub attack near Etorofu at 133,67

Japanese Ships
xAKL Shinmei Maru, Shell hits 4, heavy fires

Allied Ships
SS Nautilus

xAKL Shinmei Maru is sighted by SS Nautilus
SS Nautilus attacking on the surface
Brockman, W.H. decides to submerge SS Nautilus due to damage
I think it sank

Xargun tried bombing my troops in the hex between Pegu and Moulmein. He lost
a lot of bombers to flak, Tracker says 22 Helens and 4 Sally bombers lost to flak with
6 more Helens lost to ops.

R&R continues

A big day in the air for the Allies.

Xargun tried bombing the port at Rangoon, he was able to put a single 250kg bomb into an AS and a AD. But it cost him.
It didn't help him that one of his large sweeps did not launch in the morning, but arrived in the afternoon.
Also my LRCAP over Kwangchowan scored also.

This is the final tracker air losses.
I can live with a 11:1 air-2-air victory ratio.

Not a lot happened. I bombed his troops in Kwangchowan, disabled a number of devices.

R&R still happening.

There is a movement arrow from Moulmein to the SE, I wonder how many units he is moving?

A PB is sunk off of Truk
Sub attack near Truk at 110,103

Japanese Ships
PB Keiko Maru, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage

Allied Ships
SS Dorado

Japanese ground losses:
Vehicles lost 2 (1 destroyed, 1 disabled)

SS Dorado launches 2 torpedoes
Dorado diving deep ....
Sub escapes detection
Interesting that a PB would be carrying vehicles.

I bombed the troops at Kwangchowan, there was light rain in the hex and damage was not great.

Intel shows only one unit left in Moulmein, so I am crossing the river hex side

This was in the ops report, but not on the sunk ship list
CV Hiyo is reported to have been sunk near Sarmi on Nov 15, 1943

I lost 17 pilots KIA, 8 MIA and 7 WIA. I have no idea if I will get any of the MIA or WIA pilots back
and I have no idea how many he lost.
His bomber losses were due to him trying to night bomb the port at Rangoon.

Then on the ground I took Moulmein

The DS(s) are moving to support a landing at Sorong and ran across SS RO-61
They hit her with 17 near misses, but no hits( we are in 1944 so no more +50% night experience for ASW )
There are a number of enemy subs about, I have my CVEscort TF with 88 TBF-1 TBs on 79% ASW at 3000 feet
and the DS(s) have a large number of aircraft on Naval Search. I had a large number of
