Too many Aircraft on carrier after upgrading an aircraft

Post by s96825 »

After upgrading some wildcats to corsairs on a CV, the CV shows too many aircraft. It's like the wildcats are still hiding somewhere on board. The wildcats don't show up but it says I am using 124 out of 90 slots when I should have way less than 90.

Is this normal?

Is there a delay when upgrading to a new plane and the old parts take up space while converting?

I bet you have upgraded them to F4U-1 which is not a carrier plane.

Non-carrier planes take 4x space on Carriers and cannot fly from carrier.

Ability to do that is only for transport purposes. If you want carrier-capable Corsair, you need to wait for F4U-1A.

Interesting. I had 1 earlier Corsair which I saw was non carrier able so I put it at Henderson Field. That was a land based Fighter Squadron.

In this case, since the plane was already on a carrier I thought, surely, the game wouldn't let me upgrade a plane already on a carrier right? :D

Thanks for the heads up.

Because of problems landing F4U-1 on carrier (actually that was quite quickly solved), USN relegated Corsairs first to their ugly stepson USMC.

Marines were very happy with them, especially VMFA-214 "Black Sheep". 8-)

What was misleading was the words "carrier trained" in the upper left corner of the unit. Now I know, thanks.

Yes, the carrier trained aspect is attached to the unit, but if you upgrade to non-carrier capable aircraft, they really can not operated from CVs.

They can fly off but not land, so that is still useful since you can load them and then fly them off to a base that can be attacked by air or sea.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing! :o
