How to use Flightplan templates

Post by captainwolf »

I don't understand how to use flightplan templates, and I can't find documentation on them. How do they work/what do I use them for?

I've asked this question four times with no answer. Remaining hopeful.

It's covered in the revised manual that Paul has been compiling (pinned above), and he also has a video on his pgatcomb YouTube channel.

Is there a way to have continuous coverage with a CAP mission using templates? Or would each flight have to be pre-built?

I looked at the revised manual, it doesn't explain what flightplan templates actually do, as far as I see, and I didn't see anything on templates specifically on the youtube channel

Again welcome to my world. Still have received a straight answer on this. It's almost like it's a secret.

Hi guys,
if you mean creating a Flightplan Template by changing the flight type from the ATO (see attached screen)
It just strips a flightplan of all its waypoints and assigned aircraft without deleting it. It may be a placeholder for later editing into an actual flight.
If you mean something different please provide a screen to give us a little bit more context.
Thanks and sorry for leaving your question hanging

Thank you for clarifying that the templates are simply placeholders that will not do anything unless turned into actual flight plans.

What I was hoping for was that flight plan templates were in fact actual flight plans with unassigned aircraft that could later have aircraft assigned to them automatically for station missions (aircraft not added until a previous flight RTBs etc)

As of right now, my understanding is that all flight plans in CMO have to be built and filled manually - and that continuous coverage/stations - are still left up to the AI.
