Ger Production & Research

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Ger Production & Research

Post by matchwood »

Hello, enjoyed this game a lot over the years and back playing after the new patch. Really appreciate the efforts to develop the game.

I'm trying to understand the research & production system. I've been testing priorities and it doesn't seem to be consistent with what I was expecting.

For example, I'm producing Ta152 and Ju88G which share the same engine. If I put Ju88G priority to 5 there are still large numbers produced at the expense of the Ta152.

Also, I'm producing the Me262 while reseaching the Go229. If I put them on the same priority I hardly get any Me262 production. If I elevate the Go229 priority, what happens to the airframes if there are more than 10 produced? I understand that 10 is the limit for reseach so where does the excess go?

Thanks!

How many airframes are you actually producing? If you are making Go229 production of 10 then I presume you have 40 engines building for them? And then you need some more for the Me262 production? Along with 2 engines per Ju88G then your engine factories cannot keep pace with the airframe centres by some margin.

Overall you NEVER want to produce more than 10 complete aircraft per turn, per type if under research. Once into service make as many as you wish. During research anything more than 10 complete aircraft will NOT be counted for research numbers and are lost. If you make more parts these will be stockpiled. Same with engines. If you make more frames then can be completed with parts and engines then these will also be stockpiled.

In my current game I have lines devoted to Go229, Me262 and Me262B. 2, 7 and 1 respectively. Both 262 types are in service. I am making 40 engines per turn. If I set the Go to importance 1, the 262B to 2 and the 262 to 3 then everything should build, yes? However I have 34 spare frames and parts for the Go and find some of them get put together if I have this priority. Hopefully this will increase my research number for that day.

It can be trial and error to see which types get priority but any frames spare for types should be taken into consideration. I have the same issue with Ta154 and 190D.

The best way I see it is to set the biggest airframe producer to level 1 for several days to get a reasonable amount into service pool and then switch priorities to the smaller type that uses less of the engines to maximise the extra frame production whilst hopefully still trickling a few of the other type to units in the field.

When it comes down to it you have to choose what you need and when you need it but once again never produce more than 10 complete aircraft per day per type for research of a type or you will have wasted the production.
