Yes, it's great - but only for Steam-users/owners. :|

We'd need something similar for GOG-Versions, too (or at least a possibility to download those Steam-mods, too - please). ;)

You can just copy down a mod and then place it under the mods/mod-name folder, and it will work for gog as well. As long as you have access to the files...

Yes, but how do you download a workshop-mod, without owning the game on Steam :?:

Ideally Steam Workshop mods would include a link to their external download, eg on GitHub, as is a somewhat conventional practice in games with strong modding communities like RimWorld. That really is an issue of setting a good example early on and encouraging new mods to follow suit.

Indeed! I think they want this for DW2 - but definitely helps to have some guidelines.

I'm happy to include more instructions in my XL mod - and probably should!

I should probably modify it to have a mods/XL folder structure - with instructions to copy that into your game folder (merge mods).

It would be better with an online mod management tool - which would know to replace the contents of mods/XL should I update it - rather than merge with old out of data and now-deleted files.

Folks want to remain on GOG - but then they need to own knowing how to manage files well, or someone has to setup a system for them. if they don't want to copy files around - then perhaps steam is in their future?

I believe the Fluffy Mod Manager for RimWorld can check if a mod with a GitHub link has a newer version available. I think the update is still manual, but that's something.

Yes, that's exactly how the mod-manager from Eventure works - but no one, not the DEVs, nor the modders (including you) seemed to be interested ... and now he's gone. :(

No, it's not a question if you like GOG or Steam (at least not for me; - I have nearly 2000 games on Steam, too), but both platforms/versions have advantages and disadvantages - and you/I had to decide where to by the game (and I can't afford to buy it twice).
(later on I realized that if you buy it directly from Matrix you'd get a Steam- AND a GOG-key, but then it was too late, already. - however I think the DEVs could offer Steam-keys also for buyers of other platforms, if they would validate the full-prize-purchase - would be much more fair, I think. ;) )
