Support Units

Post by Mac Linehan »

Gents-

Am playing "Road to Leningrad" scenario as the Soviets.
My intent is to move all support units to STAVKA or the Reserve Theatre. I have and continue to reread the applicable rules.

As best I understand:

Check the "lock support" box before loading saved game (or CR in game);

Either detach / move support units on a parent HQ unit by unit basis, or

use the Commander's Report to reassign all to the Reserve TB.

My preference is to use the Commander's Report as much as possible; I am very aware that I am in the "Kiddie Pool" level of experience...;)

And-

without starting another thread:

The Baltic Military District (movement value zero, at Riga- but currently stacked w a NKVD MRDiv- which I am moving to save) is adjacent to a German unit and will displace automatically. Is it better to do a voluntary displacement?

I am very grateful for your insights and advice; WitE 2 is absolutely awesome.

I am neither a pro since I spent my time modding and figuring out stuff 99% of the time. Not sure what you actually want to do, I guess you want them all to end up in STAVKA with as few clicks as possible :D

If you want to know how to send them to the TB with few clicks.

If thats what you need, that's how you can do it:

Note that in this case only ~20SUs will be transferred, the others are either locked to be transferred or they are stationary SU or whatever else the reason may be.

Wiedrock-

Thank You.
Yes Sir, I want to move all support units either to STAVKA or the Reserve TB. I've got the move to RTB via the CR down;
to move a SUnit from a HQ to Stavka is done manually HQ by HQ- if I understand correctly.

I am most grateful for your help, Sir.

Yes unfortunately you need to assign each SU one by one, at least I don't know any easier way. If you know your final "each HQ needs XYZ" you could directly attach them where they will end up which would save some CPP which you lose half of when you reassing them (altough for soviet game start thats not a big issue). But I feel your need of having them all in one place before reassigning, sometimes one needs to have this overview.

I'd suggest using the CR, set your filters and sort them as you prefer and then click 1 SU's name, the SU's Card will open and u can assign the new HQ, once you've clicked the new HQ just instantly press "C" and repeat, this saves at least some Window-closing and CR-opening-clicks.

Sir-
Your suggestion is very useful and I will use it!

I decided to dive into the '41 Campaign as the Soviets (no early end). I really enjoy the micromanagement; after spending 3 to 4 hours on a WitP AE turn (my Wife worried about me...;) WitE2 is much faster.

Thank You!
