Port Blockade

Post by CHINCHIN »

1) With the current patch it's still like that:
"Port Blockade—Small islands may be blockaded by destroyer, cruiser, battle, and carrier groups. All
other hexes can be blockaded by 3 naval groups of the same type. To blockade a port the fleet must be
next to the port and able to move into that port from that hex if they controlled it. Enemy fleets next to
that port prevent the blockade."

2) A single unit of destroyers prevents the blockade?

3) Patrol Group also break the blockade?
My native language is Spanish, and no English language mastery, sorry.

1) Yes...BUT patrol craft / subs can not blockade, even 3 of the same type.
2) Yes
3) I do not believe so. Must be a DD or above if I remember.

Yes patrol groups don’t break blockade.

OK. If the naval units are out of supply can they also block or prevent a blockade?

If subs and patrol groups can't blockade at all, what does "groups of the same type" mean?

Does that mean that we need at least 3 identical ship types? (e.g., 3 x DD works, but 2 x DD + 1 BB won't)

Or does "of the same type" refer collectively to the list "destroyer, cruiser, battle, and carrier groups", meaning that any 3 groups selected from that list will work?

The latter makes more sense, but the language "same type" suggests the former.

Patrol and sub groups used to be able to blockade...but that was removed due to issues they caused.

You just need 3 ships of any type.
So can be BB, CA and DD...that would be 3 and blockade.

I do believe out of supply ships can still bock and prevent...which is a bug in my eyes but would have to retest. Al may have fixed this and I did not see it.

It the "same type" refers to the types that were just mentioned on the previous sentence in the paragraph. "...of those same type" might have been a less confusing wording....

Out of supply ships can't do blockade. Bug was fixed during the beta testing of the game.

Out of supply ships can prevent blockade. Bug is tracked here:

If I did not mark it as SOLVED - most probably it is still there. I have not tested this one in the latest patch.
But an unsupplied ship won't do a lot of damage when you attack it.

What is considered "small islands"? Islands of a single hexagon regardless of the capacity of its port? Single hex islands and port level 1? Manus is small island? and Naha?
