Increasing Plane Slots & Pilot Slots

Post by che2000 »

I am currently playing Ironman Nasty as allies and am running out of plane slots & pilot slots . I know they have just been increased in one of the latest patches but can we increase them again before I start a new game ? hopefully it will not be a hassle for the dev team.

Another thing that is irritating is that most Japanese squadrons convert into kamikaze post 1944 , can the conversion be limited ?

Thanks in advance

Unsure what you mean by slots?

If the devs mak a change to a scenario then that will be a change for everyone, You can use the editor and create your own scenario which would also include the kamikaze problem.

Maximum number of plane & pilot slots in the database. When you reach 1945 you run out of them

It was raised just because of that.

Apparently even that is not enough for too ambitious scenario designers. Basically scenario just added WAY too many units that could be filled with max pilots.

Limit should either 32 000 on both sides combined, or 64 000, don't remember how michaelm75au fixed it upwards in past.

The limit now is 70,000 total for both sides, michalem raised it from 50,000 a number of patches ago.

It was in the 1024 patch
2. Permanently increased pilot array to 70K

Thus, it'd be pretty interesting to reach the limit.

That'd need to be maxing the pilot in all air units.

Well, using his own scenario playing allies without withdrawals in 1945 you reach it and it isn't very pleasant after 12 months of play . Same thing with Kamikazes

You don't suppose that playing with no withdrawals could be the problem?

That option was not really meant for a human Allied player to use.

Realistically, there has to be a limit to how many pilots each nation can field. Giving Japan the same number of pilots as the Allied combined nations is already very generous. If Japan has been losing too many pilots (usually when planes are lost over water or enemy lands), it has been too aggressive with long range strikes or CAP, or just not setting the air unit mission parameters with pilot survival in mind - e.g. flying too low and getting chewed up by AA autocannons or sending heavily fatigued pilots and planes on missions.

I thought there was something in the code to recycle dead pilots if the database was exhausted? It might not be apparent until the pilot list is truly used up. That means 0 in the training pipeline.
