Re-embark unit after amphibious assault failure

Post by Garush »

Hello everyone.

It seems to me that I have already asked the question, and that unfortunately the game does not allow it yet. But I'll ask again, just to be sure.

Is it possible to re-embark a unit when an amphibious assault is found to be a failure? After fruitless battles, the unit finds itself weakened, unable to gain the upper hand over its adversary, and without supplies, even if one or more groups of ships can now supply it. But even so, it is clearly obvious that if the assault is a failure, it is better to give up and re-embark the surviving soldiers. But I don't think that's possible (unless I'm mistaken). The only alternative is to abandon the unfortunate to their sad fate.

In the same vein, when a ground combat does not turn out as well as expected and the attacking unit still has enough operation points, it is always possible to replace it with an adjacent friendly unit which will take over . I don't know if such a maneuver is possible in Warplan to exchange a dismounted unit with another present in a transport in the same hex (or adjacenbt). And if so, I don't know how to do it.

Thank you for your insights and advice.

Nope...unit will slowly die. There are not any reverse landing ships in the current version.
You can keep the unit "alive" with air supply and even ship supply...but it will not gain any efficiency overall so in the end it is a death sentence for the unit unless you can take the hex in another way.

As for the combat you are talking about...yes IF only land units involved. You can not replace one beach (amphibious) unit with another landing.
