Soviet Victory - Axis forfeit (Turn 11) GC
Bread - Soviets
Goodbyebluesky - Axis
Heavy fighting around Vyazma, Kherson and around the Luga River plus movements on Orel but pretty much bogged down already for the most part in what can be described as mostly intense artillery pushing slowly forward.

Patch 1.02.25
Scenario "The Destruction Of The Southwestern Front"
Axis (major?) victory on T018 end of the scenario
ITAKLinus / Axis / First game in WITE-2 (but not 'casual player' in his approach)
Amedeus / Soviet / First PBEM in WITE-2 (but not 'casual player' in his approach)
I smashed through soviet defences very easily and reached the Mius in a very short time. The enemy had a soviet Cav division lurking in the marshes of Prijpat and it appeared in my rear around T010 destroying my rails and logistics, with subsequent crash of the entire offensive's momentum. Sebastopol besieged but couldn't go forward during the mud. Same for Rostov itself, bare 4hexes away.
Enemy forward defence was a very bad idea in the Rovno-Vinnitsa area. Then, I was constrained mostly by logistics. Almost got even Kursk, which yelds no VPs.

1.1 to 2.0 is a minor victory, but a victory nonetheless. Thanks to all who have been reporting their scores.

Road to Leningrad
Standard settings, no house rules. AXIS MAJOR VICTORY.
Axis - Hardradi - Experienced
Soviets - John Doe - Inexperienced
Bad start for me when I failed to take Riga on turn 1. Things changed rapidly as I surrounded and destroyed many Soviet units while driving north. The rest of the Soviet Armies were trapped in Leningrad. Two NSSs fell and all on map objectives. My opponent stopped playing after I submitted turn 13.
Turn 13, projected victory odds 4.6:1. Projected points 5699:1229

GC
two intermediate experienced players, myself (A) and Vet (S) having played 2 and 4 GCs respectively
used beta patches since start of game in mid? June 2022. The CCP revisions came in on around t18 IIRC
Open TBs
Soviets conceded T68 Oct 1942 due to manpower shortage. Axis unlikely to hit VP win threshold though Soviets would probably fail to make Dec 1944 test
AAR report here https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 2&t=385794
Axis/Sov losses
men 1.3m/7.4m
AFV 4.7k/21.4k
planes 8.3k/18.0k

GC, Soviet opponent experienced in WiTE1, less so in WiTE2
Game ended T207 in a draw - guess that is the equivalent of a 5 day cricket match that ends up with no-one winning.

Re: Game results - Tell us how your 2 player game ended
Hi,
Over the last year or so have played 2 attempts PBEM Version 01.02.29beta ( 2 player game obviously) and both games have ended after about 30 plus moves as a Soviet victory....Seems to me this is sudden death at 600 points??? BUT WE DONT WANT THIS...........the last example was the Germans pulling back out of Russia to concentrate defence on the German borders.
Have we set the game up wrong? How to stop this sudden victory,.....if thats what it is....this is deep disappointment after months/years of play.
Thanks

For the best result of the game, corresponding to the history, a stronger player should play for the Germans.Rush_MatrixForum wrote: Fri Dec 02, 2022 8:21 am Hi,

'41 Campaign - No Early End
beta patches from Aug/Sept 2022 to 1.02.45 today
Self Soviets (experienced Axis player, total novice Soviet),versus random server opponent (not active on forum) who has played Axis before.
Axis surrender T28
Losses were around 750k Axis, 2.7m Soviet
Soviets blocked AGN at the Luga line, AGC before Vyazma. AGS got to the outskirts of Tula, Voronezh and Rostov.
The Axis tried to bed down their positions once the heavy mud arrived ahead of winter, but this only allowed the ranks o the Red Army to swell. Once winter struck, Axis lines became stretched and snapped on t28 as the Soviets made/threatened 6 major breakthroughs. The entire Axis front was poised to collapse.

41 Campaign no early end- DEC 44 - Axis Major victory on the auto check ( no option to continue- should be changed)
Losses on screens attached. Game is quite pro Russian just by the way events and mechanics play out. I was killed off as Axis by too mild a winter 43 with almost no mud , lack of upgrading in my Panzers, slaughter of generals, loss of NM when I was still winning so German troops were in the end no better than Rumania. Only won because I had tons of territory to give up. We have just started a new game and see if with all the patches it works out better.

1944 Campaign
Axis - Searry / Experienced
Soviet- Stamb/ Experienced
Game started with 1.02.43 beta and updating each time to latest beta, game ended with 1.02.47 patch
TL;DR 9 November 1944 (turn 27) Axis player resigned since during next few turns I could capture Vienna which means sudden victory at turn 35 check. While my plan was not to go for Vienna to avoid sudden victory and instead go for Berlin, but after chatting we agreed that there is no point of continuing such one sided gameplay. There are no troops to stop Red Army that is ahead of historical advance by 3-4-5 month already on turn 27 out of a 60 turns.
Details.
Initial turns were very quite with almost no battles since i was doing reorganization and building CPP.
After that i launched massive attacks which resulted into the pocket of Axis troops near Vitebsk.
Since i was skeptical about claims that there will be problems with supplying Soviets in Poland/Germany i went with a classic headache free approach of using supply prio 4 for everything. Even with super depots it was not possible to stockpile freight, but there was enough freight for a refits + plenty of supplies/ammo/fuel and most importantly MPs in my units. It allowed me to make small pockets almost every turn. And if Axis tries to save a pocket then i just pocket new units too.
We were playing with open TBs and Axis canceled designed transfers of their strong SS units into TBs . Fortunately for me i was also able to pocket and then surrender them.
It helped very much since even in 44 that SS units can still hit pretty hard. Also playing with open TBs gives Axis more options than for the Soviets. For example in Far East i had 330+ CV for the ground when it requires only 210. And i could not do anything with it. I can not transfer ground units from there, nor disband them.
In the end all of this small pockets resulted into such OOB (half done turn): Air battles intensity is extreme. During initial turns i was losing 1k+ planes per turn. This is with escort and only from GS since GA is house ruled.
Only after many turns i was able to kill some German aces so fighters trade went from ~1:10 to ~2:3 or sometimes even into my favor.
Since GS is much more effective during defense than attack, i was trying to avoid attacks when my planes are not ready to provide air cover. And it is very frustrating to lose 100 men in battle while 400 are lost due to an enemy planes. Also it lead to constant shortages of a big guns as during couple of battles you lose more than you produce during whole turn.
While i had no problems with a freight for a ground units, air bases were not getting much freight. So even when i had planes to fly in many cases there was no ammo/fuel/supply on the air bases.
It feels like leader death chance is much higher than what is described in the manual. By feeling it is 50% chance to kill somebody during simple displacement. There are 33 dead Axis leaders during 27 turns. Most of them, if not all, were killed during simple displacement, they were not even isolated.

It is worth mentioning that scenario starts with such predefined losses on t1:
It means that during campaign net losses were:
Axis men: 2,490,006
Soviet men: 1,357,984

1941 GC M60A3TTS (Axis) vs. MSAG (Soviet)
This was a re-match of the game we terminated due to First Winter supply issues the first time though.
Unfortunately, MSAG had to withdraw from this one due to RL issues. We almost got through 44 turns.
I would have needed another 64VP for the win. With 4th Panzer Army at the gates of Krasnodar and Maikop in mid-April 1942, this was within the realm of possiblity.

1941 GC - AlbernN (Axis) vs Deaniks (Soviet).
Soviet Victory by Axis surrender.
Game started with .47 and ended in .51 Patch wise.
Axis surrenders in May '42 as the Soviets simply outmaneuver with cavalries and rout / cripple 7 PzDivision and about as many infantry division; and turn earlier it was 2 PzDivision and 5 Infantry division, and the Germans simply are not recovering pushing power.
The VP cap was 731 out of 750. With present 707 VP for the Axis.
The manpower on the map seemed favorable to the Axis, but it seems almost 4M Germans ought to fear the Soviets more than the opposite.
Ultimately I feel there are structural problems - Soviet excess of mobility, German divisions being too brittle (I impute that to a far too large Support, so that their few combat elements tire quickly and get overwhelmed easily). When I see in May '42 a stack of 3 Panzer Divisions being simply shoved away by Russian frontal attack I know there is a problem.
We've widely avoided the Air War due to how Ground Support is skewed in favor of the Russians. We gave a tentative try in .51, and the VVS was still obliterating German artillery like no tomorrow.

Re: Game results - Tell us how your 2 player game ended
I'm sorry, I don't get a German surrender given the OB screen you've posted. You are in much better shape than the German army was at the same time, and have taken much more territory. Because you are just short of gaining an auto early victory, you're surrendering? Winning an auto victory is not the only way to win the game.

Re: Game results - Tell us how your 2 player game ended
I surrendered because in 3 turns the Soviets have routed / retreated 9 panzer divisions and a dozen of infantry division of the Germans - I am not even computing the chance of an autovictory or not. It is just that fresh and rested German units (railed from the Axis Reserves) from Rostov to Krasnodar in less than 1 month of operations lost their push, got hammered and mauled by the Soviets, due to admin movement dancing around, sneaking cavalries divisions that virtually slip between ZoCs and are very disposable. It is more a surrender as there was an evaporation of interest than a 'loss on the field', as each turn takes a variety of hours and we traded like 4-5 turns each a week.
Re: Game results - Tell us how your 2 player game ended
We played two server games head-to-head, with each playing both sides. Using the .45 patch, we both found the Ge infantry (and hence Axis overall) come to a slow grind by start 42 and we resigned the games.
Game 1 - 1941 Grand Campaign – No early end
Axis - Don77
Soviet – Blucher007
Both very experienced
Patch – current 01.02.45
Axis HWM 603
Turn 69 ~ (end 42)
Losses: Axis/Soviet
Men 2.034m/5.508m
Guns 26.2k/76.3k
AFV 5k/20.8k
Axis took Leningrad and Crimea and advanced ~ 10 more hexes along the front from northwest to southeast. Held the line over winter and the Ge army has never recovered. The capability of Ge inf Div’s have collapsed, cbt str ~ 2 is normal. Armour/Mot is still excellent. Russians are now advancing strongly with no chance of holding the line.
Game 2 - 1941 Grand Campaign – No early end
Axis - Blucher007
Soviet – Don77
Both very experienced
Patch – current 01.02.45
Axis HWM 471
Turn 28 ~ (end 41)
Losses: Axis/Soviet
Men 973,680/2,499,799
Guns 9,968/37,989
AFV 3437/12,637
Axis held to south of Leningrad. Axis held Kiev -Dnepr-Sea to preserve combat power. But, unable to generate any real advance beside one major penetration towards Rzev. An early Operation Mars destroyed this salient including ~ most of AGC. Despite logistic system being centered on supporting operations along good rail lines the German divisions were unable to recover despite remaining static, in good to excellent supply and entrenched.

Re: Game results - Tell us how your 2 player game ended
Thanks for the results. Are the losses shown including disabled? If so, the 2.5 million Soviet losses in game 2 are extremely light losses. They took 3 million killed and captured and another 1 million plus disabled during this time (1941). That would likely explain the situation in 1942. The HWM is also very low. Looks like a very slow advance without causing enough losses to the Soviet army.
