I think it would be great if a "return to last screen" button was added. (not esc - that just closes the current window.)

I rly feel your issue, I'd support that suggestion (the new Editor actually has this function!!!).

Until this maybe has been implemented, Do you know about clicking "C" (as an example) brings you to your CP from every screen? Same for the other hotkeys (like [P]roduction).

Edit: Maybe the PGUP/PGDWN/END/POS1-Buttons may help you to rotate through your Units-/windows as well.
....rightclicking also may help
