Fighter assigned to guard duty

Post by Lothos »

Honestly not sure how to fix this one because the guard file is used to lock down planes in certain places.

In this case the AI is getting a command to guard but it is to form a front line. The AI assigned a fighter to it.

Just off the top of my head, most likely in this case the script kicked in when the fighter was already at that location as Fighters would not normally be used to fill an empty GUARD position, and thus it got assigned to that spot, but on the following turns, it should replace the fighter with another 'stronger' unit as soon as one is available to replace the fighter as you have it set to HOLD=2.

Might just take a turn or two to sort out.

Fighter won't survive to the next turn.

Likely true and in that case the only real option is to perhaps set the frontlines to form earlier before there is that type of adjacent trouble, e.g. in case a fighter is caught in that position so that it would have time to reorganize once those GUARD scripts kick in.

Honestly not sure how it happened. The defensive position was set right from the start of the game. Ran several sims so far and that is the only one that it ever happened in. The rest the AI put an actual unit their. So it just seems like it was bad luck in that one game.
