Combined Fleet Special Operations

After the failure at Pearl Harbor all units that have special mission capability are concentrated under Combined Fleet operational planning, this includes IJN ships, JNAF aircraft and SNLF units.

The Emperor is waiting for results.

We get too keep our Katanas!

JAAF will learn to fly low

JAAF will start to train close air support (CAS) and interdiction, especially at low altitudes, for the units currently equipped with the Mitsubishi Ki-51, it struggles in the current role and with the tactics in use even in the China theater.

With proper training it should do until the Kawasaki Ki-45 is available, all Independent Chutais will convert to the new aircraft as soon as possible.

Akitsushima is another name for Japan, just as Yamato, who will deliver the hardest strike?

JNAF will learn to strike far

Yokohama Ku T-2 will transfer over to the long range naval strike role, pilots are being recruited among the elite of the elite attack pilots of the JNAF.
The unit is currently equipped with the Kawanishi H6K but will upgrade to the Kawanishi H8K in July 1942.

The unit will have an dedicated seaplane tender designed for Special Attack Operations, Akitsushima.

Hopefully it will come as a surprise for the dog faced devils.

Based on intel it looks like the allies in both Malaya and Philippines are in general retreat towards some holdout positions, looks like Bataan and Singapore.

Philippines Operation has to make do with what 14th and 16th Armies have for now but the 25th Army will get the 21st Division added to its available reserves along with the current 56th Division, and engineers, artillery under Southern Army.

21st Division is preparing for Singapore anyway to deceive its true target, Palembang.
It is still an option to move forward that operation if there is any indication of enemy moving to concentrate there.

Will also start preparing to move engineer, artillery and armored units from Manchuria in the Southern Army reserves to support both operations.

We dont have stacking limits in use, does the beta have them even available?

If they concentrate to Singapore is 5 divisions the minimum needed to crack it?

my understanding is that SL is based on the pwhex data, so you could feasibly add them in. Hopefully someone smarter than myself can step in and correct if that's false!

Maybe the SL data would only leave the new bases without limits but we both play a historically minded game so we might not even need them.

Churchill actually ordered to a fight and die in Singapore so I wont argue against that decision.
I just think delaying actions would give the allies more time to fortify.

The possible supply issues of the beta are a bigger concern for me so eagerly waiting the update to fix those values in place.

Combined Fleet going corsairing

CruRon 24 AMCs have been called home as the location of the enemy carriers is not known.

If they return safely they will get new commanders and more training to operate together with their flagship CS Mizuho against enemy convoys.

Shōhō at Yokosuka December 1941

Expanding the IJN carrier force

After CVL Shōhō joins her sister CVL Zuihō of CarDiv10, part of Scouting Force, 1st Mobile Fleet, it will be time to accelerate the build of CV Hiyō that will form the new CarDiv5 with her sister CV Jun'yō for the 2nd Mobile Fleet.

CarDiv4 and CarDiv5 will form the core of Kido Butai 2.

I thought Zuiho was a conversion but Shoho was built from scratch as a CVL. That would make them sisters only in the shared CVL designation, not in design features. If Zuiho is significantly slower than Shoho I question whether they should be paired together.

Shōhō is a sister to Zuihō, both based on a submarine tender design

Hōshō ( CVE in the game ) was the first purpose built carrier of the IJN, she is now a convoy escort for the Southern Fleet (Grand Escort Command).
