Opposing units visible during setup in PBEM Scenarios

Post by Darojax »

As the title says: Opposing Units are visible during the setup phase in PBEM Scenarios, for player number two only.

At least the big patch seems to have fixed so the enemy planned PATHS are not visible, so there is some progress. ^^

Tnx

Do you check the settings for player 2. The first thing to eliminate is whether they had it set to see oposing side's units.
If now, could you post a saved game.

Oh and apparently player number two can see the initial movement of enemy units as well I am just hearing.

These were the settings at the start of the game, set by the game creator:

Are there any other settings one can adjust? Not able to find them in that case.

Seems this only happens for my opponent and not me. I'll post again if I find out more.

Okay so yeah, this is an issue:

If you hover over enemy units they show exact composition determined by 'Autospot'.

I've attached the PBEM save file. Password is 'nato'.

My colleague/opponent managed to find a work around, and yes, we are able to continue our PBEM game with this method, without seeing each others units:

His words:
"I started a single player scenario on grognard, then recruit, then grognard again, and then loaded the save"

"I guess the takeaway is if you start a singleplayer game with x settings, (some of) those settings carry over to a classic pbem game that is then loaded, regardless of settings in that pbem game
How I got onto this was that I was looking around different scenarios last night on recruit to see both sides
And seemingly you actually have to start a game with the "desired" settings for it to update, even if the settings screen says something else"

However there is still some minimap 'leak' where you can see the opposing units arrivals:

Then when you move the minimap over to that area, the red dots disappear:

Thanks for the details. I will get the team on this to fix this ASAP.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!
