Turn 58

Consolidating along the Don river, trying to take Voronezh right now so hopefully no more units enter that city by next turn or else it would have gone to waste. So right now I'm trying to get 4th and 1st panzer army to go to this one spot south of Bogachar so I can finally start heading south. Also the frontline is shorter than it was before so that frees up the whole of 6th Army for me to use.

Turn 59

Preparing for the next offensive and I changed it so 4th panzer army will attack from the south instead since I had to refit the entire army and it was more convenient. That one pocket still isn't cleared yet but I don't want to send more units there. I finally managed to take Voronezh with like 9 motorized and panzer divisions.

Turn 60

That pocket from a few turns ago is finally almost gone and I'm still waiting for 4th panzer army to get ready which it won't be for 2 more turns probably. I feel like I'm doing this a bit slow since it's august already and I only have gone this far. The railways are taking a lot of time to repair but supply is still pretty good.

Unfortunately, your inability to take Odessa and Sevastopol has all but doomed you to fighting the long game, with basically no way to collect sufficient VPs to win in 1942. The AI isn't as good on offense at it is on defense so that will help you as time goes on.

You are going to have to decide for the remainder of 1942 where to gain ground that makes the most sense while continuing to pocket what you can. You may even want to think about putting in a fortified line somewhere. Having the Rumanians all piled up in one place can work for a while but once the AI has the initiative, that will not work particularly well.

still preparing so here is a very large image. anyways so the axis allies divisions got freed up so they are going to do things now and 4th panzer army is taking a while to refit but I will start attacking next turn anyway.

Also I'm doing this thing again where they don't garrison this area so I can be annoying with a romanian division because why not

Turn 62

Alright so I did the thing this turn and it turned out ok, 4th panzer army is not that great at the moment in strength so it's certain for this pocket not to hold. Also not in this image, 11th army around Sevastopol is going to the caucasus now since they weren't doing anything.

Turn 63

The pocket was broken and now it's getting very difficult to do anything now since there are no more tanks I can use to refit my panzers with. My goal right now is to head south and extend the frontline so the ai has to fill in with brigades, I don't really care that much about stalingrad right now.

Turn 64

Cleared out most of the pocket this turn and crossed the Don river which will be useful later. I'm think of sending 4th panzer and 17th army south and 1st panzer and 6th army towards Stalingrad. There is a lot of Soviet rifle corps now which will slow down progress by a ton.

Turn 65

Cleared out almost all of the pockets, there is still a lot of opposition on the way to Stalingrad. I wish that I had another infantry army I can use to advance south instead of the romanians. The tanks are starting to become really weak now so they can't do anything without infantry support.

Turn 66

Momentum is dying down a lot, not sure if I should stop for a bit or continue like this. I am starting to fill the axis allied armies in on the river to free up some of 6th army, maybe next turn I can do something with all the infantry caught up.

Turn 67

Barely any progress because rain and mud. Can't even clear out the small encirclements. Tanks are pretty useless now.

Turn 68

Just realized it had been about a year since I first made this so yea that's cool I guess. Back to the front, I almost got those units I sent from crimea to link up with ags. The ai isn't prioritising that area at all it's just a few units that are probably fixed in place since the start or something. 4th panzer group made small gains and 1st panzer group is almost completely stalled so I'm going to have to refit all the tanks. Lastly I fixed the depot priority so hopefully supply is better now

You need to appreciate the value of a super depot. With virtually every FBD present in the area, you can afford to commit one to it.

Turn 69

Soviet ai is confident enough to start attacking along the whole frontline now, it's still raining though. I used the motorized corps of 4th and 2nd panzer army to make a small breakthrough since the soviets have neglected this area of the front. There is a full strength rifle division on Lipetsk and that is enough to stop me from taking it. I also made a decent encirclement in the south with 4th panzer army.

Turn 70

The weather has not been nice, heavy mud in October. I don't see the rain stopping anytime soon looking at the weather prediction.

Lipetsk was abandoned by the soviets so a chunk of land has been secured. I can't really do anything except refit and clear encirclements not in the heavy mud and I will probably not be able to take Stalingrad before winter.

...and as well. Many thanks for the time & energy in doing an AAR vs the AI. Certainly, doing better then I ever could.
