Post by JeanleChauve »

Linear tech oddity
I think I should have received 4% advancement in aerodynamics.

Linear tech oddity
I have a scientific exchange which should have given me access to a new discovery (I have the prerequisites to receive "atomic missile from Prismrange), but I did not receive anything except tech points increase.

I take this opportunity to ask for more explanations on this exchange:
  • Do prerequisites need to be researched to receive a discovery?
  • Does the director of the foreign office influence the number of tech increase points received?
  • Does level 3 Scientific joint effort give more tech increase points than exchange (except it gives points even if there is not 50 points difference)?

Everything seems to be working as intended, again.
Yes you need the pre-req.
And there is a random chance if you get the discovery, probably around 10% per turn in your case.

best,
Vic

Forgot the other questions:

No the director does not influence things.

Level 2 gives +1d6
Level 3 gives +2d6

Please try to use this forum for bugs though.

Just to confirm how I assume JeanleChauve calculated the supposed 4% advancement:

"Cost of 1% progress: 77.16 BP"

Investment is BP 125 after optimal efficiency limit reduction
+ 116 from Research Bonus Points
* Director Relation bonus 19%
* Director Science Skill bonus 17%

335.5443 / 77.16 = ~4%

I don't know how it is supposed to work or if this is how the calculation should go. Even if the Research Bonus points aren't added like that, shouldn't it be 2%?

(asking generally from anyone who happens to know if Vic is too busy)

Edit: Of course the advancement cost increases after each advancement, so dividing it by 77.16 isn't exactly accurate. But there was no advancement at all.

Ah yes forgot about the other issue...

There is quite a random element involved with linear research
