WTF - Vichy joins the Axis on the same turn France Surrenders

Post by taffjones »

Playing a Single player game against the AI as the Allies.

On the same turn that France surrendered, Vichy France, Algeria and Tunisia all joined the Axis. Even before I had the option to support the Free French.

Has anyone had this happened to them before?

Question to Hubert/Bill - How is this possible or is it a bug???

If the Axis controls the Algiers city when France surrenders then they can select "all france" but france will surrender that turn w/out units deploying.

No it wasn't a all of France.

There were no Axis units in Algeria or Tunisia.

It is in the event log France surrender's then some more events, then Vichy France, Vichy Algeria and then Vichy Tunisia joined the Axis straight after each other in that order.

Next turn I had the option to attack the Vichy fleet (I accepted) they retaliated and bombed Gibraltar.

I also said yes to the "Support the Free French" Raided Dakar and was successful for a change :D

The following turn Free French took control of the French Equatorial colony.

No clue. Sounds fun for the Axis.

You must be playing the new Super AI

(need to ask Bill or one of the script experts)
Slaps issued: 16 - Patton, Dana White, Batman, Samson. Medals/Salutes given: 6, warnings received: 11, suspensions served: 4, riots: 2.

There are some scripts specific to AI games that have a low chance of firing at this point... essentially to keep the game interesting for more experienced players, and this is what has happened here.

They can be turned off via the Options -> Advanced -> Scripts screen, and selecting War Entry, then deselecting the relevant scripts relating to Vichy France, though obviously you would have to go back a turn to prevent them from firing in your game.

There's a mention above of a Super AI. What and where is that? Do any of the other Strategic Command games have it?
Thanks for any info.
