[1.20t2 Oceania] Crash in Planet Generation

Post by Magirot »

Just a random crash I got while generating an Artica planet with heavy atmosphere.

Before the crash the world, uh, emptied in the Biosphere phase. There was an error box simply saying "error" with no more information.

Image

When I clicked Continue it unsurprisingly crashed. Not sure if it can be debugged just from this.
Edit: Probably shouldn't have posted since unable to reproduce...

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Tough to debug indeed. It rarely happens. Was this a very old Planet as well? It looks like the bug results from maybe having no land hexes?

Yes, something around 5 billion years if I remember correctly. There were land hexes in the Geology phase, but after the Biosphere error message (which didn't have details), the whole landscape disappeared as shown in the screenshot.

Anyway, I tried to reproduce it with similar parameters but couldn't, I assume it's a very rare case.

Had it happen again, this time with a younger planet. Still not much to go on.

It might be due to using "restart" in a specific phase
