5.0.0.10 (Debug). Vichy Declaration NOT Bug

Post by rkr1958 »

1. MWIF 5.0.0.10 (Debug), but I encountered this same bug in my last game with this same version and all lower versions down to 3.2.0.

2. Germany declares/installs Vichy.

3. Free/Vichy French Control: (a) Morocco, Algeria & Tunisia=10, (b) West Africa=2, (c) Syria=5, (d) FIC=2, (e) Madagascar=7, (f) Asian Minors=9, (g) French Equatorial Africa=4, (h) Pacific minor=8, (i) Other=1.

4. USE(1.8)=10 -> 1 chit added -> range=89 -> value=1.

5. Select Morocco as France's new home country.

6. MWIF now takes you through displacing all Germany & Italian units in Vichy.

7. Once you move them all, MWIF hangs and you cannot advance to the next phase.

8. This is a FATAL, game stopping bug and I hope it gets addressed.

9. FYI. Because of my game editing skills I'm able to get workaround the bug by "manually" displacing all German and Italian units before Vichy is declared, thus skipping this phase and being able to continue.

10. I've included both files.

I loaded, and tested this, and it worked fine for me.

I recall that I had a similar situation in a recent game in version 4.2.2 with Morocco as the new home country and it worked fine, so I decided to test your save with the latest version, and I had no issue with it.

Therefore, I wonder if there is something we do differently as we get different outcomes. Any idea on what that might be?

Edit: For clarification, I advanced the save through to factory destruction step.

A side question: I forgot which country became the new Free France Home Country. Is it listed anywhere in the game so I can know?

One year ago, in our Vichy phase, I had big problems as well. I remeber we tried up and down with versions and cant remember if we (mostly) "solved it" with these changes or maybe with a resource that has given us better results lately: changing to solitaire or hotseat, letting the phase run past that, and then use it again as a Netplay.

I got it to work this time. I think I know what may have happened. During the German/Italy relocation of units out of Vichy I toggled between the countries by clicking on their flags. That is, a moved a couple of German units, then switched to Italy and moved a couple of their units and back, etc. I'll give this a try later and see if that was indeed the cause.

I'm not sure either. I looked in "Relations" but it wasn't defined in that form. I'll keep looking.

It is in the relations form. The trick is, you have to select the cell that intersects both Free France in the row and column. It then displays at the bottom of the form.
