Persia

Post by canuckgamer »

I'm wondering if it is worth conquering Persia considering how far inland Tehran is. Or do you get the 35 oil as soon as you occupy the oil hex? Two other considerations would be whether the UK has enough MM's to transport the additional oil and do sabateurs pop up continuously like they do in Iraq?

Comments would be much appreciated.

You take it for the 5 PP for the Soviets, not for the oil.

Soviets need ALL the help they can get.

Be sure that Persia surrenders to USSR, and not to the UK, if you are worried about your MMs.

You need Persia to be conquered so the rail link is finished in the North, then only could the USSR get lend-lease by that route. I did not take it once, and I remember not getting lend-lease.

Since the USSR cannot declare war on Persia until they are no longer neutral the strategy is to invade Persia with the USSR from the north and the UK from the Persian Gulf once the Axis declare war on the USSR. The game notes say the railroad from Bandur Shapur to Baku must be Allied controlled for the USSR to receive the 5 production. I assume the railroad can be partly controlled by the UK.
