[ASWERED] Mission Events all Firing at Once

Post by Bashkire »

Good evening, all!

I'm glad to be back alongside, but the fact that I am means that I have access to my computer again and as such I can bother you all with trivial questions about scenario design and LUA coding.

In the mission file attached, you'll find 5 events that should trigger one after the other at set times. At the moment, they all trigger at once (with the exception of event 4).

If someone could take a look at the file and see where I'm going wrong I'd be very grateful.

Good evening,
I'm no expert but tried to add new time triggers for some events. Looks that they work correct.
Could it be the time triggers had a different time in the past and were reset, thought I remembered something about they only fire once if if time is set to a later stage in the scenario.
As said i'm no export and could be way off here.
best regards GJ

To check: Did you just delete the triggers and recreate them again? I've just tried doing that (for a second time, I might add) and they're still all firing at the same time despite the trigger saying wait for 20:10:01, 02, etc.

You need to set the scenario start time correctly. For that reason the events "triggered" at the same time because the scen start time has already passed the time triggers.

Ah ha! Thank you very much!
That's me trying to be clever in my mission design and failing miserably.

I'll give that a shot now.

EDIT: Changing the scenario start time to 16 2000Z Sep 2022 still causes all the triggers to fire at once. All my debug messages (telling me when the events have fired) pop up at scenario start.

Do not know why but I made a new time trigger for event 5. In 3 min and 30 secs and replaced it.
Seems to fire at that time. Realizing it's not helping, sorry.

Yes, it seems the file is corrupted in some way because I can't get the events to work properly. The issue seems to be caused by setting the time to start after the time triggers, which has resulted in all events firing simultaneously. This has happened to me before, but never to the extent that I couldn't fix it.

Oh God! Don't tell me I'm going to need to restart this scenario! I've put so much work into this!

Parel803: Thank you for the file. Interestingly your file triggered events 1, 2 and 3 all at once at the beginning, event 5 after 3 minutes, and event 4 at the correct time! Still, it's more fun this way, right?

I'm going to keep fighting, and I'll let you know if I've found a solution.

EDIT: Somehow I've managed to get the triggers to work. I haven't changed the scenario start time or anything else like that, I just remade the events from scratch. I have no idea what I did differently, so I'm sorry that I can't be more help to anyone else who comes looking for a solution to a problem like this if they search for this thread in the future.
