What does this game look like on high end monitors?

Post by Der Kuenstler »

For example, at 4K UHD (3840x2160), maybe 32" or more. Can anyone post a screenshot? Does it make the print too small? (I'm thinking about upgrading.)

This is the start game view with LG 43 inches.
Resolution 3840*2160.
Disregard my different mods.

That looks pretty cool - what about pages with a lot of print like the Commander's Report?

Woah that looks like small print, but the monitor is way bigger, so maybe the print is really the same size...hmmm.

Thanks for posting!

Generally, actually text area does not keep pace with resolution increases; unless the developer has a fully scalable UI or you use Windows or display scaling (often not sharp), or the game is so popular that modders have done it. This game was clearly targeted for 1080p. As my second display, I have a 32" TV. Why TV? Because 1080p is always the same regardless of a TV's diagonal. So, you get bigger pixels and bigger text for aging eyes.

I have a 27 inch HD monitor, and I changed the scaling to 100% (found it to be much better performance than the 400% it was set to by default) and I use 2560 x 1440 now for screen resolution and its the sweet spot for me an my gaming needs.

I do use a custom font and font size in the game that suits my likes, but here are some screenshots.

I use Imgur for screenshots but they look better then what is shown in the thread.

Same as before but with a direct link.

On a 43 inches monitor the text is clear and easy to read.

Yep, 43" sounds nice.

I chose 32" for 3 reasons:

* Large 1080p pixels as that is optimal for my newer games. I did not say new, but newer.

* It is actually 1 of 2 as for my older games I have an LCD monitor 21" at 1600x1200 which is perfect for 4:3 games.

* Since I am wearing glasses, if the diagonal is too big, then the focal length becomes an issue between the center and corners.

---

Most games, I play on the TV. A few rare games I use 2 displays like CO2. And for WITW/WITE-2 rather than flipping the primary between game and manuals, I just have the manuals open on the 21" as I play on the 32". I am thinking of getting on new PC maybe when TurboBoost hits 6.5GHz on 2 pcores; but still the same titles. But now playing on an i7 OCd 3.5GHz -> 4.3GHz.

Zovs (or others) when you click to show the unit on-map in the CR, does the big unit detail box always cover up the on-map unit? That's what bugs me most about my configuration.
