Coming back after years not playing

Post by WingedIncubus »

I have not played a game in years now and have that itch again. I starting reading the manual again to reimmerse myself, perhaps it will refresh my mind on what I had learned all those years ago.

When I played PBEM I would always stop playing after than a month or two in-game.I have always suffered from 'next turn anxiety', and heavy schedule would often force me often to stop. Perhaps this time, I'll be different? :|

However, playing single player against the AI... well, it remains that the AI still is not putting a serious challenge. I hesitate on the best course to take if I want to play. Any pointers?

Thanks!

Not much has changed with the AI. Maybe they need to adapt Chat GTP to play this game. Even if it doesn't play that well, perhaps it could trash-talk you just enough to keep you motivated to thrash-walk it back.

Make sure you're reading the new manual, probably been a lot of changes since you last played.

It's like riding a bike. But if you ever want to play a pbem game with anyone, you need to get over your anxiety and stick with it....GP

If you were to do an AAR, you can always ask for help.

Joe is absolutely right. In fact it was Joe that was the biggest factor in my getting better along with a lot of other's help.

Only because I read a lot of AARs, asked a bunch of questions, and remembered the answers. Also, because I do not work I have the time to check in frequently so I could answer questions and give advice.

Be advised that the Allied side is much different since there is no economy to worry about, it is just that the Japanese can overwhelm early so the Allies have to be careful with what they do with their fleet and not linger after launching an attack. If the attack does not do much, don't hang around for the response! As an example of this in a modified scenario, go down on page 2 to see the American Navy attack near Truk. Then see the response. Discretion would have been the better part of valor for the American navy.

Edit for "I forgot the link!"
