Scenario: World War I

Hello,

Well, I have made a lot of progress. I realized I'm not making a mod but a modified scenario. I'm trying to clean up the "1913 Great Game" scenario. I learned how to properly save the scenario as my own renaming it "World War I"

First, I cleaned up the map some. I got rid of Serbian hexes in China, Italian hexes in the Aleutian Islands, and some other hexes that belonged to other countries in Russian Siberia. I also got rid of Ireland and made it all UK as it should be in 1913. I'll come up with Irish rebellion scripts later.

I also removed, Italy and China as Entente powers and Japan as a Central Power. I'm going to make Italy and Japan more "swing" powers that could go for either alliance and China to be more a neutral. I think that's more historically accurate as well as make the game more interesting to play. I'll have to see how this goes.

My challenge that I need help from you more experience players/modders is this: Russia gets 3 dreadnaughts but they come as USA dreadnaughts in the Baltic and Black seas. Any idea how to correct this?

Hi

If the units arrive by script, and I suspect they are from what you've said, then opening up the Unit script file, searching for the relevant script, and then changing the country id to be Russia's will solve it.

You will then be prompted when you save the campaign to Update the Events. Do this, clicking on the Update* button as that updates any scripts that have been changed.

I like your ideas of making Italy and Japan 'swing powers' and China a neutral. I check this scenario and noticed right off that Japan was a Central Power and China Entente and that was too much for my sentiment, especially Japan being CP when it had a close relationship with Britain at the time.

So I am happy to see your working on this. Also, yeah, there were alot of other oddities with this scenario, so hopefully you can polish 1913 up. It did feel a bit unfinished.

As new owner of SCWW1, I'm looking through the forums for additional scenarios/campaigns and this one sounds interesting. Is there a release?

The OP hasn't been active since making the post so probably not likely. He was basically trying to fix the many issues in an existing scenario in SC:WWI called 1913: The Great Game.

It would be great to see a cleaned up version of this campaign.

Unfortunately I really don't have the time to do it, but if one of our excellent modding community want to take up the challenge please do, as there does seem to be interest in this campaign and it is a shame for some of the issues to render it unplayable.

Whilst I don't plan to work on this mod, I'd be happy to assist anyone who would be interested in continuing the development.
