reduced engine size tech

Post by slicksyster »

What does "reduced engine size" technology actually reduce? I researched it, hoping it reduced the vortex engines size, initially 15, to something smaller. But it's still 15. I had hoped that reducing the engine size would pay off as each ship has several engines and the reduced size multipled by the several engines would yield enough space to upgrade weapons. but no joy. So what is the tech good for? confused...

It's a late game tech. (and the formatting in the tech tree on my 4K monitor shows its description all squeezed vertically over multiple lines as if the line length allowed were very narrow) Is it implemented?

As far as I can tell, those techs don't do anything (yet). At least according to what is in the game files.

All techs either unlock a component or component version, a planetary facility, a ship hull, or provide a bonus. Those techs provide nothing, and I assume they are placeholders.
