WITPAE launch problems.

I recently got a new PC and downloaded my games from matrix/slitherine. Steel Panthers works just fine but my WITPAE wont launch. When I open the launcher and hit play I get a little pop-up that says Error: Unable to find PW data!!

I removed and reinstalled but same thing. What am I doing wrong?

Your launcher appears to be trying to find a file or files in the wrong place.

That said, reinstall and upgrade to this point:

If you are using the shortcut the original game puts on your desktop, it links to Autorun.exe which is NOT the game - it is an outdated menu which includes a game launcher, editor launcher, and update launcher. These may not work after so many years. As RJ suggested, create a shortcut from the game engine program and move the shortcut to your desktop. Then you need to set some text switches to make this old game able to communicate with modern Windows and computer hardware.

Thank you both for trying to help, but I guess I just dont own WITPAE anymore. I'm not a computer guy at all. My hobby is the gaming, not the computer. Whenever I start trying to use winzip and download and move files around it never works. I dont know computers, I play games. In the same way I'm able to drive a car just fine, but cant fix the carburetor. When I clicked on the link RangerJoe posted, it may as well have been swahili.

I guess I dont own WITPAE anymore.

To extract zipped files, open up the file and there will be an "Extract" option with a suggested target folder. You can keep that or change it to something like C:\Games\WITPAE\Clean. Instead of drive C:, you can substitute any drive letter such as D: which is where I put most of my non-Windows programs so it will not mess up my Windows drive C: which I don't want too many other programs on. This way, I can just most my hard drive to another computer.
