Undo Moves

Post by jimpyle »

Just curious how many players used this. The manual says, "This option allows you to undo a move providing that move hasn’t disclosed any previously unseen enemy units." But if you move and don't see enemy units across the front line, isn't this gaining information? For example, you move a cav unit to a front line hex and don't see any enemy units two hexes into enemy territory. You've gained vital information. Just undo the move and keep moving and undoing him around to finding out where the enemy isn't.

It's always been my experience in Strategic Command games that the fog of war shroud only lifts if you commit a unit to a move. If you just push a cavalry unit one hex ahead and don't right-click the mouse and release to commit the unit, you won't light up any more hexes then if you hadn't moved at all. Additionally, the undo icon only works if you haven't committed to move that unit.

I've only seen folks use this function to get combat predictions on units that can be seen.
They may rinse and repeat the undo mechanism to see other possible prediction results.
I personally don't do that and don't really like that...but that's how it's used 'legally'.
It won't reveal unspotted areas by passive spotting though.

Right. I just checked and any new information in the spotting range is only revealed after you've unselected the moving units and once you do that you can no longer undo the move. All's good

Oh your welcome. 😎
Yeah MP games are fun and challenging. I have to say I had an advantage on Colonel Prem (Gaming With The Colonel) as though both of us were in Beta Tests, I had a full 2 months testing SP and multiple mirror MP tests, while The Colonel had a few weeks. (He was on vacation). Still it was an instructive and entertaining series for sure.
Thanks for the complement and cheers!
