question about aligning

Post by jjdenver »

Hi,

To align Iraq the RAW says:
"Germany can declare that Persia or Iraq is aligning
with it during any Axis declaration of war step if
that minor is neutral and there are a total of at
least 4 German corps in any adjacent countries
(excluding the USSR and Turkey)"

Does an HQI count? HQA? GAR?

Thanks

I haven't aligned Persia or Iraq in MWIF yet, but according to RAW HQI, HQA or GAR all qualify as 1 German Corps for such purpose.

Only certain countries like Persia are available for alignment under certain circumstances. Most Minors are not. They get usually aligned by a Major Power only, if a Major Power on the other side declares war on them. I wonder, how you could never align Belgium? Did you necer declare war on Belgium with GER? Because in that case MWIF asks you to align Belgium to any active Major Power on the other side, usually CW or FRA.

I successfully aligned Yugoslavia to the French in the surprise impulse and next. But that was 1 or 2 years ago, with an earlier version.

I guess he is referring to align it to CW or FR as a result of the GE DoW. Otherwise it cannot be done.

Venezuela, Switzerland, or Portugal ... cannot be aligned. This is WIF not WIF+DoD (thank God).

Or might be he is confusing with the rule about supporting minor countries.

Yes, all German corps, or larger, sized land units count. (Or should count. Haven't checked that for bugs)

The code for Germany aligning Persia and Iraq works correctly. Note that unlike aligning Turkey, where the German corps have to be on the border, to align these two minors only requires the corps to be in the adjacent country.

I haven't personally tested whether it works for Italy. For Germany doing the aligning, I have.
